Good morning ladies, another beautiful day. Sorry, I've just read this back and it is a bit of a long-winded whinge but it has helped me.

First something pleasant. Just had an e mail from DMC about a new range of kits which are unusual (for DMC) and look like less complicated HAED works of art:

    http://www.dmccreative.co.uk/mjRS/1/doc/2010_uk/DMC_Faerywoods.pdf

Now secondly, my depression has surfaced again over the last couple of days and I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything I need to do - gardening (I've got loads of bedding plants waiting to be dug in), housework - home is a mess, Mum wants to go out for lunch and food shopping in M&S which means I will miss a lot of the footie etc etc. Anyway once I get stuck in with my weeding I might feel a bit better.

The real "issue", (I feel so guilty calling it that), is that my brother and sister don't really help out with my mum who is 86 on a regular basis. When they do there is such a performance about making the arrangements and then expecting praise afterwards. My sis has 2 grown up sons and she goes to work 15 hours a week so she has scope to do more with mum (they live about 15 minutes away).
My brother lives about 25 mins away and has a busy job but he gets several days off together. They are reserved for his social life (he is divorced and has a new girl friend) and he says he just cannot find time for Mum.

Anyway I've given up trying with them. They both know how ill I've been with this depression and say how good I am with mum, but thats as far as they go. I don't suppose for one minute that I'm the only one in this position, most families probably have one member who does more "caring" .

Sorry, needed to get that off my chest !! Thanks for listening.

ohhhh I LOVE the Bridal (Christmas) fairy.

That's a lot to contend with, personally i would be telling them to pull theri weight. My dad was in the same position with his mother, if it wasn't for him (well my mum) doing her shopping/ taking her shopping every week she'd have never eaten. I'm sory I can't offer any advice, hopefully someone can.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    (((HUGS))) Linda/Erics Mum

Sorry to hear that - you're right though, it happens in a lot of families. My mum has 3 brothers who don't lift a finger to help her with my Nan, and it's a lot of work for her.

You say you have given up trying...sometimes that 's the best way, in order to stop your own frustration and keep your sanity :( Concentrate on your own close relationship with your mum. One day, when she's not here any more, they will have their own regrets.

Hope you are feeling a little better soon - good luck in the footie lol x

Sorry to hear that Erics Mum. I understand your position as there are members of my family that don't seem willing to help my own mum who suffers with Parkingson's (though luckily a change in tablets has helped for now). So frustrating isn't is? :(

I can't offer much advice, but I hope that you are able to raise above it all and just get on with the relationship between you and your mum.

    *big hugs*

Not as much stitching time as yesterday, but I've made a bit of headway with the backstitching.

I've been shopping for frames on https://www.pictureframesexpress.co.uk as there are 6 (!) stitches waiting to be framed. It's not usually that many. :o

Cost is so reasonable, for 5 frames (one's too big for them) is about £45 (though I've gone without glass and mounts as that's my preference.

It's my first time using them so I await to see their results particularly as many on here have used them to good effect.

Am a grumpy old bear today - started some stitching on Friday night and could only manage haf an hour before hand hurt so much I couldn't carry on :( tried again today and pretty much same result.

My ufo's are sitting staring at me and am not able to do any of them apart from in teeny weeny stints.

Everyone else's stitching is coming on fab though. And hugs to anyone who needs them.

Chicky: I've had a lovely day out in my garden stitching today, enjoying the peace and quiet, as everyone seemed to be out, so I just listened to nature for a change. Here's my cross-stitch progress so far:
    36736_401026281970_582306970_4780674_2749499_n.jpg

I've actually managed to start in the top left corner after this picture and begun the text along the top and I'm also doing the back-stitch as I go along to finish it up.

Oh a big thank you to whoever it was that first showed my 'in the well' stitching, I've taken this up with this one and it gives you more room to get the stitches in rather than leaving a big gap to consider threading the needle back through. :T:T

    .
love your work , could you explain this technique to me please?

wow you lot can chatter lots!
    Also forgot to say
louise do you have a cleaner? If not can you tell me how you stitch so quickly?:p I am so jealous of how quickly you make progress!;) Your lady is lovely btw.
dorastar big hugs and hope your hand is feeling better soon.

I have been busy and have almost finished the Charlie and Lola card I seem to have picked the one with the fewest blocks of colour though so it was a lot of similar shades of grey! So I will have met my first challenge! Now have to get them washed and pressed and put on here. Another challenge for me!
No stitching done today as I have to complete 3 tasks for my prefoirmance management at work for Thurs as well as my usual marking so have been concentrating on that instead. Very frustrating so can't wait to get to sewing class tomorrow night;)

I think I will either start my scarf or, if it is too hot, I will do some of my Rocky Point UFO, which is huge but three quarters done. Will take a pic of that too when I have done the other two.

Back to work in the morning ready to face kids wrath ( I teach German!) Happy stitching everyone:A

PML :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I wish!!!! It's simply just a case of 3-4 hours a night stitching time. Once the kids are in bed I down tools - if hubby aint working then neither am I lol :D

Btw - Stitching 'In the Well' is when you have a hoop and instead of putting the fabric over the inner plastic then the frame on top, you would put the inner hoop on top of the fabric then push the outer frame on from the back. It means that when you hole the hoop/frame your fabric is at the bottom instead of over the frame. It's a tip I picked up in a magazine years ago - it means you have more space at the edges for stitching without having to move the frame, plus it's ideal if you're beading!

Just re-read that and I'm making it sound complicated so I've just uploaded pics to show you:

    ;)Ye olde fashioned way:

omg - looking at that I could have said 'flip it over and stitch that way instead' D'oh!! :o:rotfl::rotfl:
