Wow, it's been quiet in here tonight!!

Just going to do an update (drag the thread back up lol)

Slowed down a bit, haven't got much done, not been feeling too great, bit dizzy and tired, probably just the heat.

Louise, how the heck do you stitch so fast??
May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away. :)

I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime!

I didn't do any stitching yesterday  and the cake I was meant to bake went very wrong, it's more like a pancake :rotfl:We figure there's something wrong with the recipe.

Other half turns up today, so I won't get any done while we get ready for holiday next week.

Awww Emzy, ducklings, how sweet! and thanks, my head feels much better. I managed an hour of stitching yesterday.

Mags. I thought the same.....'Haven't got much done' yeah right :D

Louise. She's looking great, I love the pastel colours. Is that evenweave you are stitching on?

I have some more questions/queries about using evenweave (ew from now on) :o

I remembered I bought a kit some time ago that has ew with it instead of aida so I looked at it again to familiarise myself with it.

Compared with aida the holes are tiny, should I use a very fine needle or just the one I use everyday when using aida?

Do I use the normal 2 strands of thread when using ew or does 1 strand look better? (in the kit I have a few half stitches say to use 3 strands which seems alot to me....but what do I know? :rotfl:)

Is ew ok to use on a frame?

When I have worked out the size of ew I need I'll call my local shop to find out their price but can anyone recommend where they get their ew from?

One thing I do know is to stitch over 2 threads and I wouldn't have known that if not for Louise mentioning it when I first bought the kit I mentioned previously :)

These are probably silly questions but I have no experience of using ew so don't want to ruin it.
If there is anything else you think I should know then please let me know.

    Thanks ladies! :A

:o Well it was only about 6 hours over 3 days instead of the 9+ I would normally have done :rotfl:

    Yep -28ct evenweave

No, I just used the same needle I used wth my last pic - it's a size 26 one. 28's i find stretch the holes a bit though.

Do I use the normal 2 strands of thread when using ew or does 1 strand look better? (in the kit I have a few half stitches say to use 3 strands which seems alot to me....but what do I know? :rotfl:)

Definitely 2 strands - 28ct is the same as stitching on 14ct aida.

Is ew ok to use on a frame?

Deffo - it's much easier as well, more supple and holds in place better

When I have worked out the size of ew I need I'll call my local shop to find out their price but can anyone recommend where they get their ew from?

My last lot was a rush buy so I got it from Hobbycraft, but I usually buy from Sewandso ar acrosstownstitching

One thing I do know is to stitch over 2 threads and I wouldn't have known that if not for Louise mentioning it when I first bought the kit I mentioned previously :)

Deffo 2 - if you stitch over 1 you will need a magnifying glass...and a new pair of eyes by the time you're finished :rotfl:

These are probably silly questions but I have no experience of using ew so don't want to ruin it.
If there is anything else you think I should know then please let me know.

Not silly Q's at all, I waondered all the same when I first started using EW.:)

Hello everyone - I haven't posted for ages - computer issues - don't ask but I'm up and running again now.

Everyone's stitching is coming along really well. i've come to the conclusion youa re all much faster stitchers than me! Especially *Louise*! (Yes I am a bit jealous!)

I'm struggling on with my dreamcatcher - I'm pleased with how it is looking but progress is slow. I have stitched the swallow that came with cross stitcher magazine in between as well whcih I guess will have slowed me down a bit.

The trouble is I have started looking at some more of my UFO's and I'm starting to get distracted again. Plus my DD1 has asked me to do tatty teddy for her ( Slightly put off with the backstitching though I have to say!) Having read some of the other advice though I am wondering about trying to use evenweave ( I have always avoided this before as it looks tricky!) as this is supposed to make the backstitch easier? Any thoughts?

Well that was a long ramble - anyway better do some work - just having a quick break!

Take care everyone and happy stitching!!

How cute Emzy - bet you two feel proud that you helped them.

Been sorting out stuff to do the anniversery stitches and also finishing off my other square for the big quilt, but I have lost my iron - surely the kitten hasn't run off with it.
