I couldn't not wash my projects, as they always get dirty, even in a frame. But to wash them I pop it in my washing machine on a hand wash cycle. It does tend to fray the edges, but there's usually enough fabric to take it.
I then stretch it out on my airer if it fits, it seems to reinvigourate the starch too.
Then iron it face down on a towel.
Hope this helps someone.0 -
I use a lap clipframe, I got this one from sewandsew:
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=28834&ww=1
It's really good for bigger projects, I find a hoop is awkward when there is so much excess fabric, plus I can use both hands to stitch with the frame which is quicker.
There is also the bonus that there are no marks on the fabric, and I don't have to worry about distortion.
Thanks for the info Louise, looks like I will be forking out yet more money before I even get started!! Do you fold the sides of your picture to fit? Now I understand why you are sewing in blocks like you do!! I had thought that the bigger one would be better, but then it wouldn't be so good when working in a chair, rather than sitting at a tabl Will have to think about this a bit more!!.
Off to get tea ready...a very large pot of spag bol...mmmmmm!

wow, that ebay item is amazing but i dont think if i had put that amount of time and effort in to a piece i could part with it, although come to think of it £3000 would come in handy lol13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Hi. For anyone who wanted that fade away pen from Ebay, the auction BIN (whatever it is) runs out on Wednesday.
I've just ordered one and looks like she has quite a few but no telling if or when she'll relist them.
Anyway, just didn't want anyone to miss out since it seems they are quite a good price.

I think it's a typo well i hope so as it says this in the description "i will post recorded delivery signed for", i assume they are aware you only get £39 back if lost or damaged :rotfl:
Its not a typo as she has another two which she is selling as a set for £800...I have it in my watch list so I can see if it sells so will post on here to let you know.
I can see us all xstitching our way to being debt free if it does :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I just sort of roll the sides and pin them into place.
The blocks are really because that's how much of the pattern is on each page lolJust lucky that one page fits into the screen perfectly
I looked at the bigger one, but got the smaller one because I thought I would get more use out of it - I don't do massive projects very often.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
