It won't run - the big brands are designed so the dyes won't run when washed. I have washed black and navy fabric before, and had no problems
I don't think it would look as striking on white fabric...so please don't do that :rotfl:
Ok so can you give me a newbie guide to washing and drying please
IIRC I can just soak in cold water for a min or two, lay it on a towel and roll it up.....twist the ends to get some water out or not?....then lay on a warm radiator to dry? (still rolled up in towel)
I agree it won't look as good on white so I'm not going there
Thanks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Thank god, i thought i was the only one who had never washed a finished project. When i cross stitched before i never had a pc or the internet so i didn't know any better. Now i know i'm also too scared to wash it incase the colours run :rotfl:
Nah you're not alone!
The only reason I'm asking now is because of wanting to use a white pen on dark fabric. Didn't need to wash last piece because the purple pen just disappeared in the air.
Also to be honest the very few pieces I have finished in years gone by haven't been dirty/grubby at all so it never crossed my mind to wash them:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

A finished piece is actually much tougher than you think
I lay mine in the bath, sprinkle a little washing powder over it and use the warm shower to wash it. Then I press it in a towel to get most of the water out.
Once it's damp, I press it, then leave it to dry flat (usually between a big towel again)
If it has any marks I will leave it to soak for a while in a basin of warm water with washing powder before rinsing and drying.
I have never had any piece of fabric or thread run yet, and I have done well over 100 pictures.
If I'm honest...I have actually on occasion put a piece in a pillowcase and chucked it in the washing machine:rotfl:That's how I know the fabric is tough lol - but please don't try it at home!!:rotfl:

OMG:eek::eek::eek: I don't think I could ever part with anything I'd put that amount of time and effort into. Certainly do it myself rather than buy it for that price.
Please could someone tell me how to put a photo on a post. I've taken a photo of my tigers so far, will attempt it but not sure how to do it.
Thanks in advance

Wow. I'll be interested to see if that sells! If I could get £3,000 for a finished project I'd be happy so spend a couple of years working on it! (And she says it was only a year)
You got me interested, If I could make a profit out of my stitching I would. I've looked into stitching the sample pieces for magazines but it's more about who you know and you have to be able to work faster than I can. Hmm, I might look into selling my next piece, not Santa though, Hubby loves him too much.0
