    evening all
Hope everyone has had a few minutes to do some sewing today ;)
*Louise* -oooohhhh I might have to take you up on that offer -thankyou very much :D ....I will add it to my ever expanding list :o..
I don't suppose that "tiger on a rock" is by Pollyanna Pickering" is it? if so -I have that one too :rotfl:

I work from copies of my charts too (some of the older ones I didn't ) -but now hubby runs me 3 copies off at work every time I have a chart -So I will have a "give away copy too" -as I have finished them ...

There is some great work being added on here all the time :TI find it really spurs me on to "get on with it" :j

Well I did a roast beef dinner today-so whilst I was at it I did extra veggies and have made a huge pan of breast of lamb stew -so I can sit and sew ALL DAY tomorrow as it will just need re-heating and some dumplings making for tea when hubby gets in from work :jand there will be plenty for hubbies flask for the day after , with home made bread -
Its nicer made and left to stand anyway...but getting more time to sew was the real reason behind it ;):rotfl:
    Happy sewing everyone...

Louise - Thanks, the scenic one with the trees is needlepoint, which I did about 20 years ago:eek:, so I'm afraid I have no details for it.
The otter is also needlepoint. I found it in the loft last week (all finished but not framed) when looking for my stash! Framed it today and giving it to my dad for his birthday next week.

Chiggywiggle - Thanks. The farm (with the gate in the foreground) and the harbour were from a magazine years ago.

Unfortunately I don't tend to keep the charts etc after I've finished something so have no idea where most things have come from or what they're called

Hi guys great progress, well i'm officially half way sort of, where the blue stops on the left is the center line. It a bit deceiving though as the sky is all half stitch, so now i got the lions and the grass to do. I have started on the lioness i'll try and get her finished by the next update :)

just thought i'd add this link for fade away pens on ebay - have added it to my watch list in the hope i can buy it when i sell some stuff so don't you all go purchasing!!!

That looks like a decent price. I paid somewhere between £2.50 & £3.00 for mine but to get one delivered for £3 is great.

This one any use clicky never used the site just found it on another forum.

Thanks for that have bookmarked the site. I am going to phone my local fabric shop tomorrow to see if they do them in white. If they don't I'll have to do proper research online to get the best price I can.

I phoned my local fabric shop this morning and the only thing they have in white is a block of tailors chalk or tailors chalk in a pen. These wash off with water or by brushing away with a small brush that comes with the chalk.
Online all I can find are water erasable white marker pens/pencils but ideally I didn't want to have to wash the piece once finished (having never washed a piece once finished I'm afraid to, especially as it's black fabric)

I have found an air erasable/fade away white pen on a US site for less than $3.....but shipping to get it to UK is just over $30
The brand is 'chako ace' and I can't find anywhere in the UK that stocks it.

I think I might just use a normal white colouring pencil in a corner and do a stitch or two and see how it looks. I only need a tiny mark of white so it's quite likely the stitch will hide the white mark anyway.
Or if any of you can convince me that washing a piece on black aida will come out fine and the colour won't run from the fabric then I'll think about getting a water erasable pen :D
Failing all of that I had thought about doing the design on white aida instead but I think the Tiger & Cub will look so much better on black.

Now I need a cuppa :rotfl:

It won't run - the big brands are designed so the dyes won't run when washed. I have washed black and navy fabric before, and had no problems

I don't think it would look as striking on white fabric...so please don't do that :rotfl:

Define 'thread' - how long is it for that price? :)

I currently pay 37p for an 8m DMC skein from a British website.

As for the cloth (aida? linen?) - yeah that sounds good. Is this on ebay or something?

Thank god, i thought i was the only one who had never washed a finished project. When i cross stitched before i never had a pc or the internet so i didn't know any better. Now i know i'm also too scared to wash it incase the colours run :rotfl:
