i've got out the chart i printed and actually noticed that there are 29 french knots!! i'm doing 'I', which is a pixie. wish me luck!
I am on the second to last section of Knots and boy will I be glad when they are done!.
Have caught up and now can't rememeber who was feeling down so big hug to all:A
The afghan is lovely, as are the bears, landscapes and treble clef. :T:T
I joined a stitching club on Monday night and had a lovely time. I used to go before I had kids seven years ago (my oldest is 5 and half) and everyone welcomed me back which was lovely. It was someones birthday and we even had cake and schloer so a nice night. I didn't get much stitching done though as people were chatty but i suppose it may be a bit quieter next week!
Today the lovely postman bought my knitting parcel so I now have 2 new handles so I can mend my sewing bag, 2 different lots of wool and a scarf pattern. I am new to knitting so I am getting the needles on Friday (going to try the charity shops first:money:) and then take it to sewing class on Monday. I am very excited to be trying something new!
Now dd is down for her nap so do I do some marking or shall I get the sewing out? mmmh I wonder!:DCross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've not been around for a few days. I've not been feeling very well at all. I still feel very tired, but not as 'iffy' as I was the last couple of days. I blame the weather. I hate summer. Being born in summer, you'd think I'd like the hot weather, but I'd much rather snow! I don't mind it up to about 18-20C, but hotter than that and I get ill, stroppy and really miserable.Wow Ruth-honey If you are getting rid of that many, how many kits do you actually have?;) I seem to just have big kits in my bag. In fact I think I will have a count up today, just out of curiosity! I may find I have a lot more than I thought:o
Edit-Just found the pics of my kits. http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/Honey_4/Stash%20photos/
I felt so rough on Sunday that I didn't bother with ebay in the end. I'll keep them to one side, though and when another free listing day comes up, I'll put them on then. I did sell 3 kits by PM though. They're on the way to you now, Craftygranny. Hope you enjoy stitching them.Ruth you have some lovely kits there, im being good I can't buy any because I'm trying to save for my OH's birthday.......trying very hard!Afghan completed, names stitched, hemmed, washed and ironed!!
Sister's fince is quite taken with my stitching and wants me to teach him how to do it - have found the perfect small pic he can stitch and put birth details on for the baby
Louise, the afghan looks fantastic!!! :T
Hope your sisters fiance enjoys stitching too. It's great when you can get a new person hooked!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Ahh but you have your DS as an excuse.... Having an afghan lay where ever is just going to look odd for a 29 year old couple,
unfortunately I can't see a way of having one and it not look odd....I keep trying to think of what I could make it into so it would look ok

And my treble clef is nearly finished. Just got to finish the butterflies and then do all of the backstitch which is going to be a nightmare. I always said I was going to stitch it twice, once for me and once for my niece but when I had my "wanting to rip it in half" moment I decided to just do it the once but since then it has much improved and my niece has fallen in love with it. So I am considering stitching it again but, because Im an idiot, on black for her birthday. I think black would really made the colours pop but know it would be a nightmare. It is subject to change though, wont be able to afford the aida for weeks and if the backstitch is really bad might have changed my mind again! Anyway here it is:
What I meant is that it was 4.99 and said on the front it was from cross stitcher magazine. In my brain card kits means from magazine. I think its a bit of a rip off to sell the free kit for more than the cost of that and the magazine. Its nice that there are other bagpuss fans on here, its weird cos I hate cats (apart from Mary, our neighbours as she comes and kisses my dog!) but love bagpuss and the cheshire cat. I have a bagpuss toy in my car! Thanks for the evenweave, I was shocked at how small the holes are! Going to use it for the coasters I bought and maybe a bookmark. Thanks so much for sending it.
Bubbles,
I can't believe how quickly your Treble Clef had taken shape! It's lovely & I agree it would look great on black, but it'll be even tougher on the eyes. Make sure you're stitching in good light.
Bagpuss cover kits-I get what you mean now. Yes, it does seem a bit OTT to sell the 'free' kit for more than the cost of the magazine.
I love Bagpuss too and have 2 hot water bottle/PJ cases and I had a singing Lizzie mouse, but she doesn't sing anymore.
Glad you got the evenweave. Hope you enjoy stitching on it.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

That was the tip of the iceburg. I have a massive box full of kits. I think it's 90L and it was totally filled to the brim. Did you count yours in the end?
Hi Ruth Honey hope you feel better soon.
Yes I have 26 kits, 2 sets of coaster blanks, loads of cards and bookmark blanks so not too bad really. A lot of the kits are Lavender and lace type ones and are huge though.
I have yet to start a millenium sampler! :rotfl:I obviously bought it 10 years ago and have sorted the threads and overlocked it ready but I think I ought to get my rocky point UFO finished first as I started that 5 years ago and have done about 2 thirds. It has a lot of blending and confetti stitching so think I may need to get my frame set up again and a lot of needles so I can "park and stitch":rotfl:
today I have had an hour free to stitch so I took the broken handles off my sewing bag and put my new ones on- of course the second one looks neater as I had learned how not to do it by then.:D And I have done about 20 french knots;) slowly getting through them.
Am at work tomorrow so no stitching until night time so have a good day everyone.Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
