Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
I can't find camera to do my update.
Will have to ask hubby when he wakes. Will need it for later on in the week as we are going away for a couple of days.
Kind wishes to all:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
well technically thats my May challange completed (bit of a cheat - there was only about 20 10x10 squares on it as the corner of the design
gonna go tackle some backstitch now....... if i can work it out in between the grid lines.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Ha ha well done Chickywiggle and good luck with the back stitch!
And hope you find the camera soon Sweetcarer0 -
My HAE arrived yesterday - is seriously a mammoth project but looks like there a quite a lot of blocks of same colour so they should be fairly easy. Am not going to start it for a while but have never done such a big one before - where am I best starting and is it better to do blocks of colour or work through squares of 10x10 stitches or what? I normally start in centre of designs but that seems a bit impossible hidden somewhere in 40+ pages of charts!
I agree with Louise about starting in the middle. Just halve the over-all stitch size (width and height), then find the page that has these stitch numbers on it. I copied all the pages, so I can mark on the copies as I work, including the design centre. As I work the stitches, I cross off the corresponding squares in a bright pen. I started using a highlighter, but the printer ink ran, so now I use either a red or green biro - easy to spot on the black printing. I am still on my first page (so a LONG way to go!), where I have trimmed off the excess white paper, and sellotape the page to the lamp shade to make it easy to read while I am working.
I really love the picture but all the confetti stitching was getting me no where fast, I'm thinking maybe starting a different page that at least has a few stitches of the same colour all together, once I see a bit done it might spur me back on again, but I've got enough to do at the moment! I might try a wash out pen tooit seems to work well for you Louise
! Perhaps like you, I will look round at the neighbouring pages to see if there are any with larger blocks of colour, just to keep the momentum going.
Good luck to both of you with your HAE...we are in it for the long term with these designs!

Aha - found it - in hubbys jacket. He is always taking photos.
Enlarged my J for the big quilt - so will order some threads later - someone on ebay is selling 25 4m bobbins for £5, I will order them nearer end of week after we see what is happening with the donations - I am happy to contribute if need be.
So here is week 7 - not as much done as I wanted.
Kind wishes to all

ok - anyone got an advice........ the backstitch is easy peasy on this chart......... problem is telling it apart from the gridlines - its all blurring in together. Its already been enlarged by loads!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Evening everyone,
Sorry not had chance to read all the posts, I'll go back and have another nosy in a mo. I've been bad!!! I've started my bookmark, AND my Nightmare before Christmas, AND ordered 2 of the 3D houses that Emzy found! With those and the quilt I'll be a busy bunny won't I. Emzy, don't know if they are exactly the same, but I've bought mine from Amazon. They were a bit cheaper (£6.99+£1.50 postage) and it said they were full kits by Nutmeg. Might be worth a nosy if you do want anymore.
Have a good night everyone xxx:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0
