Hello, please may I join too?

I've been quite sick for much of last year but what with work not taking up my time since Jan 09, I managed to do lots of christmas stitching - you can see my completed projects here (not just this years!): http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#/album.php?aid=67894&id=595227099

However there are a couple of things I want to finish :)

    - 2 celtic swirl and one thistle design bookmarks for 'christmas' gifts (luckily I'm not seeing the people they are for til Feb!)
    - a blackwork design of two peacocks. Its for a friend. Originally the plan was it would be her birthday present (august last year) then Christmas (last year). Now the plan is it will be for her wedding on 4 June this year. So far I've done a lot, realised I made a mistake really really early on that I couldn't work around, and unpicked nearly all of it!
    - one of the (several) kits I bought before I got sick so 18 months ago now... I have both of these for example! http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran1324-0.html

To the lady trying to design a baby sampler:

I got a free computer programme to design cross stitch. It only allows whole cross stitches but the colour palettes are DMC and the other one (whats it called?) threads with the numbers so you know what to buy. It has a useful preview button so you can change it from a pixilated look to actually seeing crosses on material.

There are several free ones available here http://software.informer.com/getfree-cross-stitch-computer-program/ and I use number 8 the KG one. I hope this helps :)

Hi, hope there's room for another on this thread.
I've been lurking for a while and definately have the x stitch bug again, after about 6 years in the wilderness! So thank you everyone for getting me stitching again. I had 2 UFO's one now finished. The other is a monster  - a Wassilly Kandinsky print a converted into a chart about 7 years ago, 95 colours and massive. Probably finish it by the time I retire in about 20 years!

I'm currently working on some white tigers that were in a x stitch mag recently, and have several different ones lined up for after.

I hope to post some pictures soon.
It's inspiring seeing everyone's stitching progressing.

    Jude

PS Jennib - I think I used to know you at school, looked at your facebook photos and recognised a couple of you friends, Fleur and nikki. My name was Judith Fletcher, don't know if you remember me!

Oooh, you're one to watch! ;)

Been wanting to get some stitching done today, but the morning (and half the afternoon) has flown by! Still haven't had lunch either. I'm hoping to take my Grandma to see Dancing on Ice when it goes on tour, but she'll be 90 by then and I'm not sure how much walking she'll be able to do. Am familiar with the O2 arena set up, but now Mum's suggested maybe Birmingham might be better...

Anyway, that's totally off topic. I might just settle down to read one of the stitching magazines and have a drool over new kits & charts that I shouldn't buy!

Too late! :D Took the magazine into the bath to read while I had a nice long soak. Really liked the Margaret Sherry designs (Cross Stitcher current issue) and the Dictionary of Love (only 3 squares, unlike the kits, which are 9). The full kit of Dictionary of Love doesn't come out til Autumn....why??? Valentines would be perfect! Then I could get it given to me, too...;)

Just been invited to Centre Parcs for a long weekend break in March. Yeah! :T One of the girls that is going is a friend of a friend who I've never met before, but she does cross stitch, so I'm sure we'll get along just fine!

PS-MRSMCAWBER-Just spotted you edited my post in your message too! Cheeky girl! ;)

    What designs are those purple??

Well, I ordered my H&E Astronomer chart from Sewalong yesterday, can't wait to get it!!! I am sewing it for my DH. I had thought "Birthday", but that is in March, so Christmas it is - hopefully 2010!
I will have "fun" sorting out the threads I will need, there's going to be lots! It is 525 x 350 stitches, and I am sewing on 28 count over 2 threads (thanks Mrs M). Think I will go with DMC as I have
mostly those already. Here's hoping I have some colours already! :D

I plan on getting some small Christmas projects done too, so I had better look through all the UFOs, magazines and books that I have, lots of nice things for cards, bookmarks, key fobs, coasters and fridge magnets...cor...I AM getting organized...don't know how long it is going to last though! To get back into cross-stitching, I might even finish one of my Beatrix Potter UFOs...only writing to do on one of them! :o

I plan on doing sewing through the day when the light is better (and DH is out!) and knit in the evenings while watching TV, all very productive!

Off to check that the bread (4 loaves) has risen enough to put into the oven. Left starting it until later, kitchen was too cool most of the day (less than 12 degrees!), now I think I was just a bit too late!

Oh well, I didn't want to go to bed early tonight! ;)
