Mummipig - he's awesome! i hope you can finish off the framing ect, he's too beautiful to sit in a cupboard.
Great I'm in for the laugh! I'm the slowest stitcher in the world though as I use stabbing stitch and I railroad the top arm but I'll try my best.

Sorry if i'm being stupid, but what does this mean? i realise those of you with standing frames can use one hand on top and one below making your stitching fast and accurate, but i'm confused by these terms!??

sorry, forgot to post my update! i didnt get anywhere near as much craft, or resting, done this weekend as i'd wanted - but saw friends lots and tidied the house for a viewing, so can't complain too much.

i've now dressed her (apart from the flower patterns), and started on her hair:

i dont think she'll take too much longer, so joining the challenge just for her seems like cheating! i want to do motto sampler next, so maybe that? (but eek! it'll take some figuring out to create the pattern.)

    Hi all

Managed a wee bit of stitching last night but still have poorlies here.

I'm loving all the pictures everyone is doing so well:T:T

Bubbles could I please be added to the challenge list for the end of April I hope to have all the stitching done. Don't know that I'll have all the french knots and backstitch done but I'll try .

Off to get the housework done and then some stitching!

Here is my update as promised. It's been just over a month!

Here is where I was March 5th

And here is today, I didn't take my frame apart this time so it's only the lower half.

I'm think I've decided that my challenge is 'to complete Santa (without 'snow on the ground' metalics or beads) by the end of the month. And to have him fully completed by the end of May.

FFP and Ellie I have added you both to the challange list and amended the post so you are listed. Your santa is gorgeous Ellie, the gold work around the bottom really stands out. Its a shame metallics are such a b!tch to stitch as they always look stunning.

As for me, once again I was up until nearly 5 but didnt seem to get much done, here is my progress:

    P1010204.jpg

Not going to get much stitching done today, if any. Taking my dog for his check up and booster jabs and think I deserve to sleep tonight before my body stops functioning!

Spiral - perhaps you could challenge yourself to finish your doll and find/make your motto pattern by the end of the month. As a newbie to stitching I think that would be an entirely reasonable target. (add in getting all the materials to start your motto if you want to take it a step further)

Your doll is looking good so far, you seem to be progressing well with her.

Bubbles - Thanks for adding me to the challenge list. I've found that the krienrik (sp?) metalics are a lot easier to stitch than the DMC light effects. They are quite a bit more expensive but to me they are well worth it. Even so, my next project will be worked entirely in 'normal' DMC threads though as I don't want the faff of metallics and beads 2 projects in a row.

This is totally off topic, but I don't know who else to turn to. I feel like I'm wading through quicksand and every time I start to get back on my feet again, something else knocks me off course.
I've got so much going on in my head, I feel like I'm going to explode! I'm still trying to get over what happened with Grandma. I can't face going back to Gloucester yet, so I'm putting it off until after my jury service. I've just spoken to my mum & because Grandma didn't have a will, her estate will go to my mum & my cousin (because Grandma had 2 children & one died-my cousin is his child). It doesn't bother me that my brother & I aren't included-I assumed it would all go to my mum anyway-but it bothers me that my cousin automatically gets half, because it wasn't what Grandma wanted. Mum knows this, but because there's no will, there's nothing we can do.

Also, I found out something about my Dad which has upset me. Last week I had a newsletter from Friends Reunited & I thought as I never use it now, I'll close my account. When I tried to log in, it wouldn't let me go into my account. Turns out when my Dad came to stay 2 months ago, he logged into it using my laptop & it was still logged in as him. I only realised this after I read a message in the inbox there. He's been contacting other women & I'm pretty certain he's cheating on my stepmum. He's been calling me & emailing me over the weekend, but I've been ignoring all contact from him because I don't know what to do. Do I ask him outright if he's cheating? Is it any of my business? If I don't ask him, how do I ignore it? I feel no respect for him & I don't want to speak to him right now. I just want to punch him, to be honest!

I just want to go back to bed & hide under the duvet forever!!!
Sorry to bring this all out on here.

Ruth, I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time recently. I don't know what to say but we are all here for you and we don't mind if you go off topic.

Perhaps you could try to speak to your Dad about what you found. There may be some perfectly innocent explanation for what you saw (I didn't read it and don't know if it can be explained) but at least if you talk to him about it you can hear the full story. When you know then you can figure out what (if anything) to do about it.

Sorry if I'm not being very helpful. We're all here for you anyway.

Bubbles: Could you add me to the list too please? Not made any new progress since my last update.

There's clouds, bees, french knots and backstitching left to do, so I'm hoping I can get it done over the next few weeks.

As promised I'll try and take some pictures of how I do french knots, if that might help some of those that struggle to get them set right.

Ruth_Honey: Sorry to hear about the troubles you are experiencing, I would suggest a chat to your GP about seeing a counsellor to chat to? That might help to straighten out those thoughts in your mind. Could your mum contest what's going on? I hear that some people do and that they get a 'better' result than initially happens.

With regards to your dad, maybe a chat to him might be all you need? It could be that he's looking for people from his past to catch up on, rather than something more sinister...

*Hugs* to everyone else, you've been very busy over the last few days

Yikes Ruth I am so sorry to hear you are having all these problems. But as Elliep said we are all here for you.

Your grandmother with no will. I am sure it should be only your mum as she is the only surviving child but I am no legal expert. Maybe you should see someone at CAB to see if they can advise. Maybe when your mum gets round to clearing your grandmothers things you could go with her and pick something to help you remind you of her. I know in everyday life there is things that will remind you - a song on the radio or seeing a certain kind of flowers. Grieving takes as long it takes to get over. My late husband died 5 years ago this year and I am wondering do I still put an announcement in paper or go up to the hills where we scattered his ashes. I do still miss him, he was a good freind as well as huband. I know I have a new hubby now and I don't want to upset it. Part of me still blames myself for his death and I am trying not to.

Your dad. Maybe he is not having an affair, maybe he is just looking up some old girls he knew for years back. Maybe you could talk to him and say to him about why is he contacting them - is he ok or is he just thinking back to the "good old days". I got an email (via FR) from an ex - I just ignored it. He sends one every so often so I ignore them. You are concerned so you can say that to your dad too.

I am not that great at giving advice but these are some ideas I thought of. But please know we are here for you anytime.

I don't know what to do with my challenge. I keep meaning to tidy up my magazines pile - got 5 years worth to sort out - maybe that could be a wee challenge and I am also sorting out some stuff to send to Shelly.

Better get back to work before the boss gets back in.

    Kind wishes to all

Ruth - sorry to hear about your troubles :( Half going to your cousin is pretty standard, if the situation was reversed, you and your brother would inherit your mums share. Unfortunately if a will isn't left stating to the contrary then there is little that can be done :(

I think you should speak to your Dad though, it could just have been flirting with an old friend. I always advocate being stright with someone and asking about what they are up to rather than assuming the worst - there could be an explanation. Of course, if there isn't then he has been caught out and may put an end to anything going on.

The fabric & chart were there, but it's missing the threads. It's a PINN kit, so no idea what brand of threads they use.

I have done a PINN chart (Mermaid Heaven) and it used DMC threads.
