:j i've had such a great day, i hope everyone else has too?
firstly, it Didn't rain! so we went for a walk with friends we havent seen in ages, and they had a lovely surprise - she has a new baby-on-the-way bump!
secondly and thirdly, we came home to parcels in the hallway!
Dorastar - thank you so much, the blue tit is adorable and very lifelike, i'm sure mum will love it. (i'll start later in the year though as her birthday is jan and i'm useless at secrets).
CraftyGranny - that was very very kind of you. :T The needles and conversion chart will be very useful, , not just for me but for my friend who is teaching me and only has two pairs herself! I wasn't sure what the other things were, then realised they were like big safety pins for storing the knitting!:o how clever! thank you so much! i'm so excited to be able to carry on my little started bit from last week.:DRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Managed another 4-5 hours so far today but think I'm kidding myself that I will finish the page by Monday..visiting family tomorrow and my parents want me to decorate a room for them on Monday
Have made a big decision though, I'm no longer going to smoke! Have one left then that's it...god help me  I keep thinking how much money I waste when I could be spending it on lovely xstitch goodies and have something to show for the money at the end of the day!
Have the lozenges in ready but hoping my stitching will take my mind of it when the cravings start.
Wish me luck!0 -

I don't know how complicated you like your designs, but the Teresa Wentzler ones are fairly large and complex with a lot of blending; the Carousel Dreams ones are much simpler but do involve metallics and beading.

I do have a few more carousel designs; I'll dig them out a bit later.
I love the Teresa Wentzler one's they are perfect. I've always said that if I could find a great carousel it wouldn't matter about size as I would want it always hung on my wall, Possibly right where everyone can see it and I might even invite strangers in just for a look:rotfl: The four seasons would go lovely in my new caravan that I don't actually own yet but OH will be buying shortly he just doesn't know it yet:rotfl:
Forgot to say I love the jolly nation caravan couple I'd buy it for me but my OH is bald !I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -

A huge good luck from me too.
I have been smoke free for 14 and half months now and I am very proud of myself.
The baby made me stop though, so that could be quite an extreme way of going about it. I stood on the patio with preg test in one hand and chain smoking cigarettes with the other for the whole evening near enough. Then when I woke up the following morning I didn't have one and I've not had one since.
As I say, a bit extreme, but I had been a 20 a day smoker for 20 years so I thought I would find it hard but with the right reason it was fairly easy.
We are here if you want some support and the cross stitch will definitely help occupy your mind and your hands.

I wish you all the luck in the world.
My Mum and late Dad both stopped in their sixties having smoked since they were 14, so it can be done. They are/were tough cookies but really had to use willpower they didn't know they had. Even now, 20 odd years later Mum occasionally says she feels like a ciggie (no, she doesn't give in !).
Keep your hands busy stitching and if you ever feel about to succumb, come on here for some "group therapy". Please let us know how you get on.
