I had a gift of Cross Stitcher magazine last year. It is supposed to be aimed at all types of stitcher but I think is perhaps more suitable for beginners and people who like smaller projects.

After having had a years worth I've got a few projects lined up and have now decided to only buy magazines when I see them in the shop and notice a particually good design. (I've bought 1 magazine since November, but been checking all of them every time I go to the supermarket. I have been strict with myself though and am only buying when I see a design that I really love and would actually stitch.)

The Tesco deal for Cross Stitcher is very good and I'd reccomend it for any new stitcher or anyone lacking in confidence with their stitching. The designs included are varied and I've enjoyed my years subscription. I have not renewed as I now have a pile of magazines to flick through when looking for inspiration, and I decided to spend my clubcard points on my AA membership instead.

If Cross Stitch Colection ever comes to Clubcard then I might have a much tougher time saying no as those are the designs that I'm currently more interested in.

(This whole post is purely my opinion and should not be taken as fact that will be true for everyone!)

Thanks for this, it more or less confirms what I thought. I'll save my Tesco vouchers for my next book-shopping spree on their website.

Thanks for mentioning the x-s magazines, I've been tempted for a while and had a furtive look at them all in Smiths but still can't decide if any of them are for me.

I've got enough Tesco vouchers to buy the Cross Stitcher subscription, could anyone tell me if it is aimed at the beginner and "improving" stitcher or whether they have a good range of projects for the more experienced ?

    Thanks

PS I'm a sucker for magazines and have to be really strict with myself about resisting those special offer subscriptions for all sorts of mags, not just stitching
I've just had a flick through this months copy and there are 2 designs that are titled beginers and some cards that I'd put the same. 7 intermediate designs- wedding sampler, forever friends fairy, african lady etc. There are no designs in this issue that are titled as experienced but there are from time to time. The thing I like about cross stitcher is the fact that you can send away for the materials and threads to do some designs (discounted slightly for subscribers) saves a lot of hassle.

    Ditto to others

I get Cross Stitch Collection & No1 Cross Stitcher.

I should have every issue from issue 1 in both. Still sorting through my stuff (had a house fire and lost stuff inc. cross stitch that was completed and not).

It is nearly home time and I am off till Tuesday. Hopefully get some stitching done. Sorting through alot of stuff in spare room - need to get better organised.

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)
