    Hi Dora.

    How kind of you!
I know the Blue-tit chart has been taken by 23rdspiral but I wonder if it's possible, could I have a copy of it please before you send it?
Also if no-one else wants it I'll take the wedding sampler off your hands.

    Thanks!

Hi Craftygranny, thanks so much for thinking. i got some cute old size 7 blue ones that look 'about right' - i am totally confused by the size 8 is 4mm thing. they were only 50p, i could try again next week; i've no idea what postage would be on a pair would be but it might be more than that?

size 7 it was as near as i could get, i know nothing about knitting, do you think they'd be ok?
it's not that i'm making anything really, but my very humble small beginnings in knittting :o are currently sitting on a safety pin as my friend who began to teach me at the weeekend needed her needles back to carry on her own project.

Spiral when i used to knit they weren't in metric lol. 4 mm is the metric size and size 8 is what it says on older patterns . It makes a difference to the size your piece of knitting will turn out.
Don't worry about postage i can get my son to post the odd thing from work for free.

Does anyone have the Siesta Lapman Frame ? This is the blurb from the website
"Now you can sew hands free anywhere with Siesta Lapman. The working frame and stand simply fold away neatly into the compact carry case. The fold-back cusioned top provides a comfortableand stable padded base when the frame is in use. A handy pocket holds charts and accessories and the frame features Siesta's "Clip-'n'-Sew" rollers.
    12" roller case size: 12" x 18" x 4.5" (310 x 460 x 110mm)
    15" Roller case size: 12" x 22" x 4.5" (310 x 560 x 110mm)"

They are pricey to say the least with the 15" roller case being almost £50 (over £50 with postage ) but I wondered whether it would be a worthwhile investment? If I did decide to buy or ask for it as a birthday gift (late may), should i go for the 12" or the 15" ? I have many projects so am not sure whether ordering the 15" would give me more flexibility.

I quite like the idea of it being on your lap. I do have a floor frame where you attach a hoop but i have never got on with this and I want something sturdy.

They do seem a bit pricey

Just as a suggestion, I (and a few others on here) have bought this one:

    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=28834&ww=1

At half the price, it does pretty much the same thing. It works for big projects as well (I used it for my lady at the lake) as you can just pin the excess fabric out the way, and that way it can be more useful for smaller projects.

But if you want the wooden one then asking for it as a birthday gift sounds like a good idea :)

    Hi Flat Eric,

I have the 15" (burgundy) Siesta Lapman thing - I bought it from RQ or RS (whatever the wretched website is called) - sorry, I am at work and don't have access to my bookmarks - and paid £29.99 for it - I think that they still do it for this price. ETA - I mean RU Crafts - http://http://www.rucraft.co.uk/detail.php?productid=ST01313&proddesc=Burgundy+Lapman+Bag+15%26quot%3B+with+Scroll+Frame&supercategory=0040BRN00028%7E0050CAT00166&branch=&wcategory=CAT00166&catdesc=&super=0040BRN00028~0050CAT00166&treecode=TRE00011

I'm still getting used to it as I have been working on a different piece using a hoop which has a deadline to it. However, I do think that once I'm able to properly get to grips with it, it will be just fine. I did have to get my Dad to finish assembling it for me and you have to make sure that you keep the wingnuts tight, otherwise the frame sags while you're working.

The piece that I currently have on it, I started on a hoop and transferred when I bought it, so have not done a piece from scratch yet. However, my next piece (John Clayton's Fuchsia Panel) will go on it from the beginning.

    Hope this helps,

    Ro

  • Hi all hope you are all well and avoiding the power cuts and snow where you are.

I tidied out my stitching box last night! I so need to get another by the time I put in all my magazines there is hardly any room left for my threads and mini sewing machine etc. Think I'll send OH to shops at the weekend for another large stack and store and just do mags/books in one and stash in the other. I also discovered that the threads are away on my big hoop so I've just ordered another although I'd love a stand of some kind too.
Stitching wise I have finished letter x and have moved on to y and managed to do some clouds and ladybirds too. So all in all not too bad.
