Hi everyone,
Count me in. Been at 'keep meaning to' stage for years.
Have made the occasional prez but always at the last minute, which becomes stressful and detracts from the joy of making for people.
This is the year I finally get it together.

They also sell kits to make up the chickens in John Lewis for around £25 which includes , pattern, yarn, needles and a bag to carry your project in.

I think I've fallen in love with these chooks!!
How big are they? Would it be easy to knit without the pattern? I haven't got any organic kids to knit for at the mo so I'm wondering whether I can do it without. Does it have a tail? I quite fancy one of these sitting on top of the egg safe in the kitchen.........although that might not be such a good idea as I can imagine having to wash it rather frequently. Mmmmmmmm I shall have to think.
Last summer I bought some round baskets - you know, the type you can use on a surface for putting things in, not the shopping kind - for a few pence at a car boot sale. My idea at the time was to line them and fill them with goodies as pressies. Never got further than good intentions at the time as was planning our daughter's wedding and knitting for our son's new babe who arrived just before Christmas. Yesterday I got round to lining the first. I'm reasonably pleased with the way it has turned out. Need to add some decorative touches to finish and then will post a photo.0 -

Also made quite a few of these for gifts...
I`ve been extra naughty and started yet another crafting project... well it is another gift for my friend... a cross stitch Hello Kitty bookmark. Hopefully I will finish it today and can post a pic.

Ive just measured one and he is 4.5 inches tall ( not including legs).
You could knit triangles to create the body although the Rowan chickens are knit in one piece then the legs, tail and comb are crocheted using basic stitch.
I pop a small bean bag in the bottom then stuff with toy filling. It just helps them to sit nicely.

Poppy - lovely bracelet! I am dying to start jewellery making, could you give me some tips on the basics? It is quite confusing for a newbie!
Thanks jamtart- eee I don`t think I`m best qualified to dish out jewellery making advice as I make things up as I go alongI only really make mw bracelets and pandora style bracelets.
I`ve made tiaras and combs in the past but again have just done my own thing with them.
A good book to get is The Beaders Bible or so I`m told.
I`d love to have a go at some necklaces but haven`t got round to it yet.

Last night I did this:
I have quite a few of these baby formula tins stashed on the top of my cupboard as I am always thinking that they are too good to bin and would be useful for storage. Until now I haven't got round to actually doing anything with them. Then the other day I spotted and bought a roll of sticky vinyl from Home & Bargains for 79p and thought it would be perfect to cover the tins.
Going to cover a few and put them on my shelf to store my craft bits & bobs!0 -
I`m going to stop hogging this thread:o!

princesspoppypop wrote: »Hi whoopidoo, yes memory wire is sold either as individual 5/6 coil rings bracelets or you can buy a huge coil and cut off the amount of rings you need.
Memory wire comes in adult&child bracelet size, rings and chokers.
What is great is that the adult one fits any size as the memory wire adapts to individual wrist size.
I buy beads from all different sources, PJ Beads, Jilly Beads, Josy Rose, Hobbycraft, local habadashery stores, Ebay, Etsy to name a few.

Thank youI'm going to have a go for Christmas. Blimey I thought I would save money making things for Christmas instead I've discovered about 6 more hobbies I want to try. It's true you can never be 'just' a paper crafter or a wool crafter can you? It all merges into one!
Mind you once you get the initial tools it's not to expensive... least thats what I keep telling my OH :rotfl::rotfl:
But if you think about it a gorgeous bracelet like that would be megabucks in the shops and not so personalised either. I love it!:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -

Oh no! I was lucky when I was pregnant I didn't have ANY morning sickness so I don't know what it's like. I have a 6 month old now and am on maternity leave at the moment so enjoying that side of things. I split my time between looking after the baby and doing crafts :T.0
