wohoo! I have just been to tesco and picked up a red fleece blanket for a £1.00! that will be ideal won't it for the backing for my patchwork quilt?

thanks to you all for your kind words about my creations. I really do draw lots of smiles when I am on here and it takes my mind off all the bad things going on in the world.

I also managed to pick up a new xmas tree with lights for £6.00 reduced from £25.00 and some matching tinsel from £4.00 down to 75p.

I really must get to Cath Kidston to pick up some squares and also see if I can get some material for my quilt.

I am going to take a good look at the pj beads site but I am going to look when I have no money hehehhe, my card making supplies and stuff cost me into the hundreds so I doubt hubby will want me starting ANOTHER hobby lol

PRINCESSPOPPYPOP-the bracelet is fab - looks very professional

LIESAUK-you are still better at crochet than me lol
-you have been busy with some lovely things made i like the idea of the ashtrays but im friendly with so few smokers but might still have a go

JAMTART-re whats easier to knit with i would also go with SUSAN946`s idea of wool and needle sizes yes bigger needles and chunky wool knit up easier and quicker but can also become very holey when just learning due to the potential for big holes as stitches bigger IYKWIM

Pocket tissue holder is something I used to make as a child, they are easy and quick to make and you don't need a sewing machine or a lot of material.

Hope the link works as it's first time I have added a link.

Thank you so much mystkate for the link, there are sooooo many things on their that are now added to my list.

Love the idea of making kids colouring pages ..... from your own photographs, my daughter will love this.

A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D
  • I realise this is very cheeky but i like you all and trust your advice. My brother wants me to help with chair decorations for his wedding and would like to find somewhere that sells cheapish tulle fabric. I think I will need at least 2 metres for each chair I decorate and may be doing 40 chairs, eek.

Sian - have you got a local flower wholesalers close by? Ours does the stuff to make the organza bows - not sure if that is the same thing?

Thanks for the knitting advice. Think I'll give it a go with the chunky and then if I run into issues go and cry to Nanna and get her to finish it for me :D

I loved the ice scraper too and think I might make one for each family member :D Especially if next winter this this much fun :/

Poppy - lovely bracelet! I am dying to start jewellery making, could you give me some tips on the basics? It is quite confusing for a newbie!

I made one of these with some Batik fabric from Thailand, it took all of 10 minutes, so easy, thanks for the link!

I thought of doing some kind of book with a page per month, with photos of the boys in that month (with my mum and dad if I can get them all to sit still long enough!), a little crafty thing the boys have made ...wondered if anyone has good ideas about what type of book to do. Have seen those explosion boxes but don't know how much fits in them...

Had a lovely little search on the internet yesterday, and found this page http://glitteradventure.blogspot.com/2006/11/exploding-box-class.html where someone has made one that is a year in pictures - perfect!

By the way, sorry I utterly cannot knit or crochet, would love to do some sewing but not very good - am going to try one project for DH's birthday and if that goes OK will do some more. Hope you don't mind me joining in the chat anyway though you are all so lovely and there are such great ideas here!

p.s just found the post #652. it reads

they are quite simple to do I don't do it quite the same as this but the idea is the same and as you do more you begin to change the way you do it, another thing, DONT BE FRIGHTENED I haven't cut myself once doing this and I must make about 10 a week. The edges aren't like razors so please don't worry. Saying that I WOULDN'T let one of my girls do this craft. You can also do it whereby once you have cut the top off and cut the strips, curl each strip down a pencil and they make a nice flower shape.
