Found this link on the Freebie Board
    www.discountmaterials.co.uk

You can order up to 8 free samples and the material itself isn't a bad price for bigger projects.

Just posting this here as I thought it might be something that we could make up as little gifts for others. They could be personalised but I tried laminating fabric just to see if it worked and it did, I made these bookmarks with some offcuts of Cath Kidston cotton, I guess you could do placemats and all kinds this way:

    more pics elsewhere :)
Did you laminate the bookmarks? I was thinking of making some. I got some padded sticky letters and numbers from Poundlnd yesterday and am going to make a door hanger for my Dgs and step Dgs with them, they are really nice colours. Whoops just read the thread properly and see you did laminate them - thanks, it does work well they look really good.

susan - lovely post it note holder :T I did some last year but nowhere near as pretty as that one

Kandi - think we must have done the same things last year...............lol I did some beer mats with calendars on, some with post it notes and I fitted a pen on them as well. Not bothered with the pen this time - last year they kept falling out..........lol:rotfl:

Been trying to cover a cheapo plastic notebook for a journal...............all going along nicely till it started to come unstuck  Had to re-glue it all over again. Shan't bother with plastic again........I was that mad............took me ages. Looks ok now but I'm keeping fingers crosses it doesn''t all fall to bits;)

Next little project is to fill up little plastic (yuk -dreaded plastic again !!) with stuff you run out of like batteries, candles (in case of power cut), sticky plasters, blu-tak etc. Running out of ideas........??
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

does anyone know where i can get some cheap wooden (rather than plastic) clipboards (preferably narrow long ones - like bingo clipboards).

i've found a few sites but postage seems to be extortionate! one ebay seller wanted £1 each to post them and wont combine postage :(
    any help apreciated!

On the way to finishing one of my SOS boxes full of 'stuff you run out of'..........covered the top in black foam and after a bit of a battle with it all today I wiped it, all the glue came off :j Rummaged among my stuff and started filling it with batteries, plasters, candles, matches, paracetamol, muscle relief gel (freebie), small screwdriver and a few other bits and pieces. Found some bright yellow letters to do an S.O.S.! on the top and I'm really pleased with it.

Had a go at a book mark with some fabric and foam..........silly me...........it ended up too thick for my hole puncher and now I've looked at Kandi's I might have got away with not using it and just stitched the button and ribbon on........still, not too late - I'm started to make a hole but it's easily covered then I'll see what it looks like................:)

Kandi -sorry to hear about your mum.............hope she's ok now.

Well, attacked the dreaded plastic notebook again today -this time I used copydex.............think it just may have worked - it's currently underneath a couple of huge books in the hope that the weight will keep it stuck.............;)

Freebie fabric samples came today..........not very big and typical me.......ordered one with a plant pot on and one with a cup and saucer.......might have known both those would actually show the whole image. Still, the rest are pretty and I can use them on cards maybe.

Apart from notebook not much else done.......apart from washing ...was going to add a button and ribbon to the book mark I made yesterday but can't find where I put it....................typical:rotfl:

Thanks for showing us those smileyt, I particularly like the first one. Are there more than 2? If so some aren't showing correctly.

I also like the idea of tracing the black & white image onto shrink plastic, that is a useful tip.

I made a shrink plastic object yesterday too:
