what are you putting inside the walls? cardboard? wood? are you using batting?

I have used batting which is fine. It means its still lightweight enough for carrying.

I'm sure you have all heard of the crayon rolls but incase you haven't here are some i have made for pressies and they are really easy to make. There is a link on my blog to the tutorial i followed if anyone hasn't already got it.

Yeah Just the batting and the plastic embroidery/cross stitch sheets. By the time you have put batting on both sides of each plastic piece you have cut it becomes quite bulky x x

Dizzytina : Wow I love those crayon rolls! They could be adapted also to fit in make up brushes for an older generation too!

artydoll - love the pillowcases...........never thought of doing something like that before. Maybe I could do one for little grandson.........;)

dizzytina -love those crayon holders.........don't have anyone that age to make them for otherwise I'd have a go

Haven't done much in the craft line lately......been having nosebleeds on alternate days -went off to see GP this morning and he's given me antibiotics, says it could be an infection -blood pressure is fine -and he's referring me to ear nose and throat boffin so something should get sorted out.
Meanwhile if I go anywhere(even from one room to another) I carry a loo roll and bag of cotton wool balls with me just in case...............lol

Anyone wilting in this heat ? I've just put some things upstairs in my 'spare room come stash room' and it was like an oven:eek: Couldn't get out quick enough........................lol

Thanks for the kind words Kandi my mum is now home and settled in but has to rest for 6 weeks and can't drive.

Claire there are some great ideas thanks. i am three quarters of the way through making the fabric dolls house it is fairy easy so you should be fine as i'm only a novice sewer so if i can do it anyone can!!!
I use plastic canvas in my fabric houses, so you can wash them, although I did get a job lot of the canvas years ago so I don't know how expensive it would work out.

    Hi All

I was thinking I might do a twist on a grandad basket because he loves his grandson to bits and I am due my daughter tomorrow so I was thinking a nice spin on it would be to make him his own sort of baby book from Ben and Bump with all their birth details in etc, and maybe put a nice picture of them both in together, maybe a mug for when he goes to work with a photo on, their foot/handprints now etc. Possibly even a jigsaw of the two together but leave the photo out so he has to put it together to figure it out - figure that's something nice him and his wife can do together then with a nice bottle of plonk on a rainy afternoon.

I was thinking if I start now then it wouldn't be expensive to do and I know tesco do gifts like that. Might even order a second jigsaw for my mother in law because she loves to do jigsaws at Xmas and she could have one of her grand kids too.

What do you think?? Does that sound like a nice gift?

sammy - that sounds a lovely idea..........I'm a granny too and wish my kids came up with ideas like that.
You could find some 'grandad' quotes as well and paste them into a book........I'm sure there are loads of them on the internet.
