Count your blessings - my nearest supermarket is 23 miles away, and nearest bargain shop is 200 miles away!

re - the fleeces for boys/males

unsure how much you want to spend on making male ones, but for under £1 you can get lots of iron on/sew on patches/appliques on Ebay.com

that would still bring them in under £2, a fab present for that money
when i want a few of anything from .com, i set snipes
the things i am on about start at 99c free post
i set snipes for say $1.04
9/10 if i dont get it, they send a 2nd chance offer for my max bid

    like these

Trow - 200 miles to the supermarket  ?? Mind you, OH does the supermarket shopping as he's a much better cook than me. I seldom go in ours..........did today to get a few bits for grandsons birthday box of cooking stuff..........took me ages to find a cake mix -I was glad to get out.

Spent the afternoon concocting a 'no cake sweet cake'........round oasis covered with tin foil and stuck marshmallows round it with toothpicks and a few other sweets as well. They kept falling off..........I did get in a pickle............get the feeling I'll not be doing another.............still OH said it looked ok so thats something..................lol:rotfl:

Its a bit quiet on here, so you must all be busy crafting

I been away this week and while away I knitted a scarf for my DD for christmas, it `s called scarf in a ball and basically you get a set of size 8 needles, a ball of this wool and cast on 5 stitches, knit a row, purl a row...simple See it here

People who I know that dont knit have been making these (as they`re so easy) and they`re so soft and good looking that I`m going to knit somemore for christmas presents. :rotfl:

I also been making fathers day cards here and various other cards here so I`ve been busy.:)

I also been collecting christmas mugs from bootsales, 10p each, I think everyones glad to get rid of them this time of year, but they`ll be great for hampers I think

"200 miles to supermarket would suit me, I hate going there to Mary, went out yesterday to find some shorts, didnt see any my size not one pair, got OH a pair of shoes for fathers day and when I got home security tag still attached so now I have to go back

susan - had a look at your blog........super scarf but not quite sure how it works...........been years since I knitted anything as fingers aren't very agile but wondered if I might be able to cope with that.........just need bit of extra tuition I think.

Lovely cards too...........got to make one for grandson -his birthday is on 12th  I don't usually leave it this late so needed some inspiration -thanks :T
Have replied on your blog as 'anonymous' but added my name at the bottom............don't know how these blogs work being bit of a numpty...............lol:rotfl:

All I've done today is another page for scrapbook no.2 and covered 3 notebooks I got from the 98p shop in Torquay.................5 of them........tried to cover them so they'd go with the pens I got as 'freebies' that I've covered with paper. So not totally wasted day but not as busy as I ought to have been

does anyone have any small ideas for babies first christmas that i could do. will have 3 new additions this year (only 1 of mine!) and was wanting something under £5 , maybe something to keep

if you want to craft something i got three different shaped of those small papier mache boxes from a diy shop for my daughter, painted them a different colour and wrote first tooth, hospital bracelet and first curl. then glued some ribbon around the outside and they are pretty good! then i wrote the date of her first hair cut inside the lid of the curl, and the day her hospital bracelet came off (when she came home).

i also have a friend who will only have a 4month old at xmas, so i have used some felt to make some rattles, and some fabric to make some baby cubes. i have put some links, i know they probably arent stuff to keep, but HTH

  • Spotted two crafty things while I was out shopping today which may help people...sorry if they're repeats, I haven't read the whole thread yet!

1, Wilkinsons have bottles of caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) powder in the cleaning section. Couldn't see anything to suggest it was anything other than 100% sodium hydroxide, so would be good for soap making??

2, There was a stall in the shopping centre selling picture frames like these:
    http://www.a1gifts.co.uk/gifts/Happy-18th-Birthday-Create-a-Pix-Mount-Photo-Frame.aspx?source=awin
But with all different texts e.g. "Happy Christmas", "Grandkids", "Family", etc. They were ridiculous prices, but looked really good, so I'm going to have a go at making one for my nan's birthday. Looks like something that could be whipped up in an afternoon!

    Hope these help someone!

ThatElliottGirl - what a brilliant idea - my twin grandchildren are 18 at Christmas..........I was stuck at what to get them and this juse might fit the bill -I can vary it a bit to suit each one. Think I'd need help cutting the letters out -maybe the lady at the card shop in town would help;)

Well I actually got some things done today...........not a lot but at least its a start......3 specs cases........well 1 still needs stitching up.
Very mse as well..........found some fabric I didn't want that I'd been given and lined them with foam........got a load of sheets from Poundland, and then I rummaged in my drawer and found some fabric samples (freebies) I'd still got............so that, plus birthday card for grandson..........well, not much but its a start.

Found this link on the Freebie Board
    www.discountmaterials.co.uk

You can order up to 8 free samples and the material itself isn't a bad price for bigger projects.
