I came across this whilst looking at something completely unrelated on someone's blog. It's a free pattern to make a 'slanket' (see pic):
The pattern is here: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4045 and is available to download as a PDF. There are also instructions for crochet for those of us that prefer this method - although you may have to search for it on the site. I have just given you the link for the knitted version.
You just have to register on the site for free, which is just you email address & a password, and area if I remember right, so no major details being taken.
If we're starting for Christmas 2010, then gives you plenty of time to work on it.0 -
There are instructions for a fleece slanket here

Hey all,
I havent posted in a few days since I decided to join so have to catch up on what everyone is saying!
I have discovered a great site called Craft Bits (I am still a new user so I am not allowed to post links but if you type Craft Bits into google you will get it) which has loads of brilliant ideas on it! Some of the ideas I have seen in the forums on here but there is loads on this site as well. Thought I would post it so everyone can get more ideas for next year!
Happy Crafting everyone,

Another idea that I never got around to making for the kids this year ..... a crayon roll

I'm playing catch up at the moment and saw this post. I was thinking this could be adapted to hold bottles of nail varnish / manicure set / make up brushes / screwdrivers for different hampers.0 -

Its a cute lamb... its made from terry towelling in the book but I bought a lovely soft throw and used that to make him up, the hands, feet and face are made from fawn linen blend material.
He was fun to make and didn`t take that long although the stitches were hard to see in the fluffy material.

Poppy - your lamb is GORGEOUS :T0 -

loopychriss I hate sewing up too but I discovered this site http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/kategori_oversikt.php
I've knitted three of their patterns - the last one was a hooded cardigan / jacket and the only bits I had to sew were underneath the arms (about 2 inches worth) and the top of the hood (about 10 inches worth). I'm halfway through a pair of gloves at the moment and they have no stitching at all. :j0 -
whoopidoo..........ummm.........not sure I know about 'felting' woollens apart from when they go through the wash a few times and come out a bit thick..........is that it ?
I've got a cardigan like that I'm intending to make a bag out of and maybe some leg warmers (said I'd do it last year and didn't get round to it)Love to see your bag when it's done.
Has anyone seen the new advert for the new crochet magazine coming out? One of those first issue is 99p jobs before they rack up the price? Might be worth getting the first issue though as it comes with the crochet hook and 2 balls of yarn for 99p:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
whoopidoo - thanks, thought thats what it was. I've had all year to do this bag from a cardigan and didn't do it........so maybe next year I will. Don't havee a digi camera though so I'll have to try and work out how to do it with my phone................but of a techno numptyI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
