I have been to a craft show today and have seen a few things that have given me ideas of things to make/alter.

First were a pair of ladies gloves, just normal ones and they had sewn some beads round the wrists, they were selling them for £25 a pair!! Off up the market on Monday to see if I can get some gloves.

Second was a nice scarf a bit like the lace ones shown on Jamtarts blog. They looked like a long cream bit of muslin or similar with lace sewn in strips along them long ways, and then they had some other cream trims on them which looked like pompoms but could leave these off. Then they had sewn down the centre again long ways twice with shirring elastic (is that how you spell it?) to gather them up a bit. We stopped at macro on the way home and I spotted a roll of stockinette which looks cream and it was less than a fiver so bought it to see if I can use it somehow as the base for the scarves. Will have to wait until I get my machine back first though. The scarves were selling for £25 as well.

Another thing I saw were these storage bags/boxes, again a bit like the ones on Jamtart's blog but they were more padded and they had pockets all the way round the edges. I might try some of these in a smaller size than I did the other ones, may be 8 x 12. I have a lot of the cream curtain fabric left to use up.

I also bought myself a present, a little contraption for threading needles, looked really easy when the lady was showing us how to do it so will have a go in a bit. Bought some nice mixed beads too to sew on the quilts I am making so might have a go at them later seeing I have no machine.
  • I like the idea of gloves with beads around the wrists. What kind of fabric were they?

Sounds like you had a great time - I love the idea of a needle threader that works :T! I spend half my sewing time threading my needle, licking the thread, trying again, cutting the end off to make it finer, etc. etc.! Look forward to seeing your creations :)

I was squinting so hard I began seeing two needles in the end, and still couldn't get the thread in either of them! Went out and bought one of those cheap sewing kits from a newsagents (£1.50) that had a collection of mini threads, plastic measure....... and a needle threader! Yay.
To those who are given much, much is expected

        £2025 in 2025 = £680.60

Well I tried the needle threader out last night using an extremely fine needle for sewing on small beads and the thread was a nylon thread that was fraying at the tip and it went through no problems. I am very impressed with it. The woman in the show was putting 4 strands of thread through a small eye needle one at a time and they were all going through. Just hope it lasts a long time as its a godsend.

You can buy those needle threaders in a multipack in Asda. I think there's 4 or so in a pack, but its been a while since I bought any and I can't remember that or how much :o:rotfl:

Hurray, I`ve knitted something, 1st time ever, after perservering for weeks with my knitting for dummies, meet Rupert. I got him from jean greenhowes site, ( free pattern)

And he has faults but its the first thing I`ve ever done.

            Yeah

Thats great Susan! Well done on perservering on learning to knit too. I only got to the stage of looking at beginners books and not actually picking up any needles. You and Rupert have inspired me! :T:T:T
