Anyone not going to buy anything in the sales and avoid them

I think I will wait for the Boots 75% off sale and see if there is any real bargains that I need rather than buying because it has 75% off0

I almost didnt go today after seeing the mad frenzy of selfridges on TV this morning. I only went to Lush & got the free gifts that I wanted & the bath stuff that I need & have been holding off getting. This free stuff give away only happens once a year so its worth waiting. Couldnt bear to go to Oxford street or Regents street today. Didnt have the strength to be pushed about so just kept to Covent Garden.
I tend to wait for the things we need (which are essentials) & get them in the xmas sales. The last pair of wine glasses broke so thats what Im are going to get tomorrow & towels.
If its clothes I want then I try everything before the sales to get the right size & colour & then have considerable restraint to wait for the sales. One year I didnt & the next day it was half price. I was really peeved.0 -
Havn't read the whole thread but I'll be avoiding the sales.
I really don't see the point in risking life and limb to get a tacky jacket for £50 (at 50% off! - the way I see it, people who have to wear expensive clothes are trying to make up for being unbearably ugly or having a rotten personality) when I could just as easily get one for a tenner at a charity shop which is likely to be much nicer and last longer. That goes for anything else in the sales too, it's all just false economy.
I despise seeing people flitting around like vultures, knuckles dragging, open-mouthed whenever a red sign with ''SALE'' written on it appears - !!!!!!, there's ALWAYS a bloody sale - calm down and get a grip is my general opinion.0 -
OK, so I admit it, I went for a little look around the shops today. I came home with a cardigan I need for spring/summer (I only have 1 other), and which I'd been stalking since September, and some posh chocolates from Hotel Chocolat as a treat; I can't afford them full price but do adore them and make them last. There was a lot of rubbish available in the stores and too much mess and carnage and too few small sizes left for me to bother rummaging the rails; I do what other MSErs do and make a folder of favourites on my computer and check them as well as using discount codes I find in general; I also try on things instore so I am sure to get the right size online.0

I work in a head office for a very well known clothing retailer and my cousin owns a clothing manufacturing firm it's shocking how big the markup is - It usually costs retailers no more 33% of the price you pay to get that product on to the store shelf after *all costs* have been taken into account!

Which is actually disturbing when you consider the £1 tank tops you can buy at Primark.0 -
i'm avoiding all sales mayhem for as long as possible. Dont get me wrong i love a bargain but I honestly dont need anything at all. And think I'm going to try and save (eek !!! me????) for a fabby summer holiday rather than blow my money on some reduced tat.

I was working today (in a shop ) so I had a nosey around after work. I bought a present for a birthday in January and two toiletries sets for those random, unxepected last-minute birthdays which always seem to crop up, but other than that I couldn't be bothered. I would like something new to wear for New Year's Eve, but if I don't find it, I don't find it.
I realised several years ago that the best way to approach the sales is with a list: if you need it, it's on the list, and you don't, it's not. I find myself more focused on getting what I actually need as a result, and don't end up buying lots of tat. If I see something I like, I have to go away and think very hard (prefereably for several days by which time chances are I no longer want it) before buying it. It works a treat! Please call me 'Pickle'
