Anyone not going to buy anything in the sales and avoid them

I was all geared up for the sales but it's just too icy outside(Stockport) nobody in my neighbourhood clears the footpaths and/or sprinkles grit so I managed to fall on my face and chipped my front tooth quite badly. I'll probably need some sort of dental work done now
So much for 'saving' money in the sales...I was so looking forward to buying some nice cards in paperchase

It is really refreshing to see that I am not the only one who finds it difficult to pay full price for anything :rotfl:My DH still gets worried that he hasnt "got me anything" for Christmas, and every year I explain to him that it would pain me for him to buy me something on Christmas eve that will be reduced the following day
This year I did stray to the Monsoon sale for a pair of boots at 50% off - I know they wont be there by the time the 70% off sale appears! But as for the clothes, I too tend to wait for further reductions. The Body Shop gets my business after Christmas, in their sale - I tend to bulk buy shower gel at half price (plus this year I managed to glitch a 30% discount so that will do me until the next sales now - one of the SA told me that as long as they are not opened then they have a shelf life of 2 years from purchase )
I also popped in on the radley sale, again glitched a discount as well as the sale price so got two bags for less than the price of one had I bought it 2 days earlier!
Boots sale I couldnt find anything, and I dont like the House of Fraser website, am waiting for Clarks to go down a bit more as I too "stalk" items through the shops (love that phrase - we could start a support group for sales stalkers!!) and I could do with a pair of flat boots.
I find that ebay is good for Monsoon items as there are several power sellers on there that buy up the seconds and sell them, often they are just as cheap as the sales and they have stock all year round.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
to OP i am not going to buy anything I didn't want in the first place, even if it is a bargain. However I have not bought any clothes or beauty products (apart from essentials and Soap and Glory
) since November as I have planned to go to the sales. I have a voucher from work as a bonus so even if I spend all that on myself I feel I am saving money as I would just want to go out and get new clothes in January......it would be more MSE to save the voucher for presents for others throughout the year or food etc but I know myself too well - I will want new clothes!!! I have bought a few things online.
Boots sale on Christmas eve was by far the best!
If you are teen - early 30s then check out Chemical records uk.
Their sale started this morning and they always have good stuff.
You need to get the sale online, on the day! And know what you want before it starts.
I bought some Issey Mayake half price aftershaves this morning from next.
I bought half price girls aloud box sets from boots, front cover make up sets at half price and harajuku fragrances again half price.
All sold out str8 after so you really need to get in there early!!
I will open a boots forum soon if anyone is interested as i regularly have codes and tips.:AQuidco

There was a long-standing Boots thread that kept going off topic in a rather clique-y argumentative way, and after closing it a couple of times the mods decided there could never be a Boots thread again. They did very kindly leave the sale thread, but that will be it, I'm afraid.0 -

Ooooh, as a newbie that all sounds a little scary!
I might steer off that then!:AQuidco

A lot of good advice on this thread. Personally I dont want to go to a sale or any sales at the moment. I would like to bank my christmas money to a later date when their is something I need(opposed to something I want!)At this present moment their is nothing I need. I think sales make you feel like you should be shopping. On the television you are bombarded with more pictures of sales.I will start as I mean to go on !2012 - Emergency savings fund goal by December 2012 £3000.000

I've avoided the sales since I was born. I couldn't deal with the hoards of shoppers and have always got it into my mindset that the clothes or gadgets I want will be ones I will barely wear or use and that I'm just wasting my mind and my money. I rather have the say £100 sitting in my bank account that on s*** that I really could do without.0

There are two things I'd quite like but neither are in the sale. A Sony e-reader and a Mulberry Antony messenger bag. I don't actually need either though.Illegitimi non carborundum.0
