Still nothing has happened with my first order although it is still showing an estimated delivery for tomorrow. How when they haven't done anything with it since I ordered it I don't know.
I can understand that items may go out of stock but why let that hold up the rest of an order is beyond me. I don't know any other company that works this way, it doesn't make any sense.
Also, when I was placing my third order, somethings were taken out of my basket as they went out of stock. So why are they allowing some items to be ordered when it turns out they don't have any stock after all.
I have just filled in the questionnaire which is currently popping up on the Marks and Sparks website. They asked for my opinion and they certainly got it.
Hopefully this link should work, in case anybody else fancies leaving their opinion too.

As someone else has tried to explain, the ay the M&S system allocates stock is it prioritises the orders that it can fill, rather than part fill.
In other words:
If you have order A placed on Xmas eve for X, Y and Z and
Order B placed New Years Day for X, and Y
The stock will be allocated to order B as it can fulfill that order, meaning order A is stuck
What you need to do is get C/S to allow partshipment. They can do this quite easily, and if the order is not all linked, stock should be allocated easier. You may also find that orders that they have said there is no stock for 'magically' find stock that is floating about.
My orders were due delivery on 7th Jan, I called C/S to do this, and I am now getting the bulk of my items tomorrow.
Also, if it helps, unless you have had an email stating certain items are out of stock, they're actually not, and there is stock floating in the warehouse, its just a matter of getting them allocated to your order.
HTH, this is the way it was explained to me x0 -

A lotmore stock control systems do this than you may think. It makes sense for the company as it means less courier charges shipping full orders rather than part orders, generally happier customers (as they get the full order in one go), less admin and labour time etc etc etc. The only time they're a disadvantage is at times like this, but if you think about how many people ordered, and how many are recieving their items with no problems, its (at the risk of being shot down by some folk) generally fine
There is the ability on these systems to 'unlink' the items. Thats a manual process.0 -
I have in the past begged CS to ship part of an order, and been told it's impossible.0

No, I'm not sure why I have been told most of the rubbish they have told me either.0 -

It has been advised by someone in another M&S sale thread that if you get delivery to store you are more likely to find that the stuff is out of stock by the time they come to pick it as it is only processed the day before collection so postal orders will have had their items picked and packed first.
Maybe this occurred the other way around0
