It should be when they dispatch the order
  • Got an email today saying my 2 items are out of stock. I placed this order around 11.30pm Christmas Eve when things were starting to be reduced. Really annoyed!

If you place an online order, the charge to your credit (or debit) card does not go through until the order is processed and all items are confirmed as deliverable. I am sorry that some people are receiving "out of stock" emails, as I have said before I must be one of the lucky ones as I have never had an item cancelled after placing the order (in any of their online sales - not just the Christmas one). I have been told by more than one source that they are less likely to do an "out of stock" notice on an item within a multiple-item order suggesting that irrespective of the delivery date (whether nominated or not), they try and ensure their larger orders are always fulfilled. However, my orders tend to be large simply because I am ordering the same item in two different colours and maybe in two different sizes which means that 3 out of the 4 will probably be returned!
  • Think i have been really lucky yet again, i have managed to receive all my items even a couple i did not expect as it said only 1 left! :j It is a real shame they can't get it right for everybody

I was actually charged for my items and refunded today after the out of stock email.
  • Just got a despatch email for my items. They had 3 things cancelled but looks like I will get the rest! Hope the rest of you get some despatch emails soon for the things they havent cancelled!

ordered 7 things on Xmas morning, all turned up this morning, sorry to the others, but mine did get through

I did make a point of ordering sale items where the stock was at least 7 or more, to try & hedge against disappointment. They're only work shirts, so as long as they are my size and aren't a terrible colour i'll look good in them :D

Once again M&S totally screw up the sales with a rubbish stock control system. So glad I kept out of it this year - saves on the disappointment when they turn out to be rubbish.
The missus ordered some stuff though - be interested to see if any of it turns up!

No they didn't, for me it was a perfect sale as usual...

I got everything I ordered around 12:30PM on Christmas Eve/ morning just after the sale started, plus all the extra 30% off items like the 3 Pure Cashmere V-Neck Poncho's down from £69.95 to £24.50 !!!

Guess I was just lucky with my kidsweaer, menswear, and womens watches down from £39.95 to £12...

I think it just depends on what you are getting - I rang CS and because mine was mainly clothing thenI have had all 4 orders dispatched in full (HDN courier is my issue - lazy would be a compliment!)

Personally I hav found them to be excellent but other dept stores I have found to be useless - just the way it goes I think
