  • Yes, sorry mmmkkb and others, I was very harsh in my comments and I actually returned to the thread to say sorry and edit.

Poor spelling and grammar are particular bugbears of mine (and, although I am not a teacher, I think that the education system is partly to blame for falling standards in these areas) but there is still no excuse for what I posted. Forgive me.

  • Not that this will suprise anyone but I to have had items cancelled. First thing that happened was got the delay email and some items said they wouldnt arrive until feb. Well got a cancellation email on some wrapping paper, now got a cancellation on 3 sets of knickers but yet there still sending the matching bras. Whats really annoying is only yesterday they had these items supposidly in stock and now there saying there cancelled.

Some the Christmas tags that say wont arrive until late January are still in stock...so why the hell are they not sending them.

Really annoyed and even more so as was in Marks yesterday but didnt get any Christmas wrapping paper as I thought it was already ordered.

Oh and also the items just cancelled were in the section dispatching soon, so even if it says that they still cancel. I also ordered these items Christmas eve as it all went live.

I ordered some books a couple of weeks before Christmas, and they didn't arrive when they said they were due, so a week later I went onto Royal Mail to track the parcel. It turned out that the parcel had been returned to M&S, as they hadn't put an address label on it! Nobody at M&S emailed me to tell me though. Now, the logical thing for M&S to do, you would think, is to open the parcel, see who it is for, then put an address label on it and send it out again. But no, not M&S! They simply opened the parcel and then somehow lost or resold my books - so when I asked where my parcel was, they had sold out! Arghhh.....

I will think twice before using them again - terrible service!:mad:

sorry if i am not making myself clear

in short, marks and spencer do not allow you to purchase any incomplete item, i.e. if the top come in a set with blue bottom, even if during the sale, the set got separated, you are still not allow to purchase the top without the correct bar code matching bottom

the set that i wanted was placed in 2 separate section, unfortunately the top is size 12-18 mths but only 9-12 mths bottom left. i assume that as long as the design of the set matched, it doesnt matter what size i am buying (problems with my baby, he is too fat)

but the cashier simply refused to sell me the 2 items as the bar code is not matching for both (due to sizes) i was shocked

so i probed her further as to what gonna happen to the 2 items, she said both will be send to clearance store for discount price.i do not understand why they cant just sell me the 2 items for full sale price

teaspoon i try as hard as i can to explain the situation. you dun happen to be an english teacher are you?

They wont sell it to you because what happens if they find the bottoms to match the 12-18months and the top to match the 9-12 then they need to then find someone who would buy that as a incomplete set! So they will keep the non matching set and wait to see if it turns up, someone could of left it at another department for example. If it doesnt turn up then it will either go up to the staff shop and be sold as seperates or it will go through the back to be kept for when they have a "soiled & damaged" rail out which will include items with a mark on them or a small tear or incomplete sets. So the top will be sold on its own for a discounted price and the same with the bottoms, usually these items go for £1 or £2 if they were previously sale items.
And the part about the barcode, when its a set ie pyjamas or slippers etc the tills ask you to scan both items. When the first one is scanned the till picks up its a set so asks you to scan second item and the till will then tell you if its a set or not, so theres no way round it.
I worked in m&s so I know how they work these things

I am now baffled. I was told by CS on the phone that I would definitely be getting nothing from my order. Then the 'delayed' and 'out of stock' emails started arriving. This morning I have had a 'despatched' email for what seems to be about 70% of the order.
I'll have to wait and see if it's real despatch, or despatch in the sense that they take your money and then cannot track your order when it doesn't arrive.
  • Yet another email from M & S this morning. This is the 3rd. Didn't think I was getting my bath towels til January but surprise surprise on IT'S way. Yes ordered 10, 1 is on the way and 5 more are to come sometime. Postage is down as 23p for this!!!!!
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

Some further online reductions this morning, 5 pack girls socks were £3 yesterday, now £2; Xmas tags that were 50p yesterday are now 25p etc. Not much left though and I think a lot of us have been put off ordering sale items again!
