Tesco misprices discussion area part 6

Hey_Dude wrote:Hey Dudes! I’ve been away with work and then some Dude flu – but I’m back baby.
Remember my PSP problems (staff swapping SELs etc etc) – well after 3 weeks the store manager offered to sell it to me for the original SEL price as a goodwill gesture.
He also said that I was a regular R&Rer and could be banned from the store if I persisted with such dastardly activities.
I am very tempted to do something naughty to revenge these lying toads – what do you good Dudes think to this:
Step 1: I’ll have a chat with a reporter from my local rag – explain the R&R thing – heavy emphasis on Tesco consistently overcharging customers and then getting snooty when pulled up.
Step 2: Meet said newshound in the branch that has given me so much grief – take him/her around the store and buy ONLY mis-priced gear – loads of it.
Step 3. Let the roving reporter pay and take the whole lot to CS and then….play it all by ear.
My guess will be that the CS people will throw a fit.
Then the reporter goes: “Oh and by the way I’m reporting for the **** - can you tell me why all these goods were wrongly priced and why Tesco staff are failing to implement the Price Promise – a clever Tesco policy designed to avoid the wrath of Trading Standards etc etc”.
Sounds fun – or have I had too much cough syrup?

Right idea but method would need modifying a little, if the reporter was to pay then his paper are unlikely to agree to it as they would make themselves a target for revenge (advertising likely to get pulled) however if you were to have the discussion with the reporter and invite him along next time you shop and carry out your plan then he could observe and note, he is unlikely to be challenged as to who he is and represents and more likely to report, if he is challenged at any time he will almost certainly be obliged to identify himself though. Don't forget to be his best mate and indulge in chitter chatter throughout your shop, bear in mind you are almost certainly being watched during your trips if you are known to them. Perhaps invite him to a little lunch in the cafe after your shop to discuss your issues further, better still ask to meet him in the cafe discretely disclose your concerns and tell him "I'm just about to do a very small shop only one or two items would you like to come along and watch" he's far more likely to agree and will find it hard NOT to do a story in the event you get banned before his eyes.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
agreeing a lot with Bens words here.
I always thought news reporters had to report the news and not be a part of it. So as an interested observer he can observe what you do and the steps that happen when you do it .... the downside is he will be unable to take photos, but I am not sure if him having a tape recorder running might be OK or not though, and of course your picture from the CCTV will be sent to all tesco stores nearby and you will be watched like a hawk from then on, but it depends on if you are prepared to accept that
Good luck with it, you might not want to mention the store you are doing it at in advance either0 -
Sparky67 wrote:Spotted on my travels Epson Printmate 100 (personal photo printer thingy), two SEL, identical barcodes, one £50 ish, one £99 ish, no instore scanner (and in a shop I'm banned from R&Ring in!). Not sure what the proper price should be, but worth keeping your eyes peeled for!
Not that I have been looking at these a lot recently or anything <g> but they were £99, then some went on clearance at some stores for £67 ish, then about the time they fixed the bundled camera and printer package they also then reduced this to £59.99 (I think) and it scans at that in the ones I have checked. I am pretty sure this one will be up and down like a yoyo for a few weeks until they find the price they are going to sell at as they are marking them end of line and discontinued in some stores so i guess its clear out time.0 -
Having said all that your post should at least ensure a few get easier r&r's as the whisper gets around Tesco :rotfl::rotfl:Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Coupon-mad wrote:EDIT....
Funniest thing is, I always pick up receipts outside in the car park to get extra points if someone has not used a Clubcard, and guess what, I found one this week that has 'Finish Tablets' £8.89. Well, at the very least I may go in and get a refund of £8.89 (and give back my unused pack as I will still make £4) but am I right about the original price being £4.89 and do you think there is a chance of R&R at all?
Cheers everyone, keep posting!
There's an element of Fraud about that. It's stepping way too far over the mark, IMHO.0 -
bb999 wrote:So you get £8.89 refunded.
You then run out af dishwasher tablets and have to buy some more.....
..........for £8.89
 Sorry to mention this confusing issue again! bb999 I am not that dumb.......! The £8.89 price is wrong, it relates to a different product.
So can any friendly Tesco employee (Constantine?) help me understand why I was able to go to a smaller Tesco store today and buy the infamous 4-in-1 dishwasher tablets for the 'proper' price of £4.89? Cos I just did, even though nearby larger stores have them (exactly same barcode) scanning wrongly at the (5-in-1) price of £8.89.
Don't geddit, I thought prices would scan the same in all Tesco stores (thought it was just the SELs or product labels that sometimes differ)?
I will phone Mr T and his merry men at HO in the morning and see if I can confuse them too..........................:rotfl:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

OK, point taken, I won't do that then, I'm an honest moneysaver at heart! :A
But I won't pay nearly double the price when I'm sure it's wrong, so I will be phoning HO as I mentioned above.
Any misprices to discuss now anyone??PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am not in my own store till Wednesday, I'll take a look at it then and see if I can make sense of it. I noticed it looked odd a few weeks ago but assumed it was to do with the new variety. Could you pm me the barcode of the box/s you have got? And if they are 5 in 1 or 4 in 1?
Before you call Dundee try to explain it to someone face to face - if their eyes start to glaze over it may be worth holding off and seeing if I can sort itWho or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -

Each to their own - but it seems slightly grubby.............
It's a slippery path.......
Today, tesco receipts in the car park.........
.......tomorrow half-eaten burgers in the bin outside McDonalds........
.......before you know it you'll be picking up fag butts recycling the baccy......
.......and then you'll find yourself on the streets, wrapped in a blanket, being kicked by chavs on a Saturday night, being accused on being a !!!!!! - and you will have forgotten how you got there......
.......all because of a few extra points for that trip to Folly Farm

Ben & Tony & All,
Only thing is, I personally cannot appear in any newspaper - don't ask why but basically my employer would go ape.........
