  • Surgical spirits (available from chemist) dilute one part to 5 parts water.
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

You could try sprinkling with bicarb, leave an hour or 2 and then hoover.

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread to give you more suggestions :) Good luck!

Well, I don't know about urine in general, but I have learned how to get Cat urine sorted and that's VERY smelly!! The key is to soak with vinegar (after soaking up etc), white is probably best to avoid staining, and leave for a few hours (yes, it does smell vinegary, but that passes). Then clean that up, rinsing if you want. It has worked for me on both wet and dry male cat pee.

I'm used to the odd puddle being left behind as I teach the little ones ... but fortunately it's usually on tiled/wooden floor and easy to mop up!

But I have just moved into a different classroom which is carpeted and it absolutely pongs of wee in certain areas!

I've scrubbed it, disinfected it... I've shake an vacced it... but every time I enter my room and work in those areas I can smell it :(

Are there any strong products I can buy that work?

I'm not even allowed air fresheners or scented candles in the room because of allergies and health and saftey!

    help!

  • Hi there

If you use Persil automatic washing powder, biological type with some water, that should do it. Apparently it is the enzymes that break the smell down. Good Luck
  • Yep, any biological laundry detergent should do the trick UNLESS it's soaked down into the underlay as well

Um just a thought but could you ask to have the carpet cleaned properly? If you can smell wee than it is surely a health hazard and not your job to clean the carpet.. my new classroom has the same problem in the book corner but luckily its not carpeted so I have washed it down and am hoping the smell will go away before September...
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last
