I had this problem a few years ago and the best thing I found was Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer. I tried dettol and all sorts and Neutradol was the only thing that worked!

My son wee'd on his bedroom carpet last night, have no idea why

white vinegar should do the trick, it's something to do with acid neutralising the ammonia.
