I very nearly had an accident due to one of these w***ers. Some prat in his stupid 4x4 did not like the fact that I was overtaking him. But thanks to the fact I had taken a long run up he could not put his foot down quick enough.

Have this all the time - some people have a huge problem with people overtaking them - I've even had some move over onto the other side of the road in an attempt to try and run me off the road.

It's just so weird the range of reactions - a rough index of severity.

    1) Slow down, indicate left, help people pass - that's me (although it's quite rare)
    2) Carry on as normal
    3) Drive 3ft from the car infront so overtaking's impossible
    4) Flash lights, shake fist, sound horn (no idea what that's about)
    5) Tailgate for a few miles
    6) Speed up ONLY while they're trying to overtake
    7) Swerve around the road to stop them overtaking

If I was cynical, I'd say that this index is inversely proportional to penis size :)
no 6 would be my usual experiance

Also i find if they are driving a flash card, give it about 3/4 of a mile and they will be right up your a$$ then over taking you

what is it with lorry overtaking another lorry and staying parallel to them for enough time it seems to chat about their weekend?, therefore blocking off both lanes of a dual carriageway? Why cant they accept that they are supposed to stay in the slow lane at 50??

    Lorry A does 49.5 downhill.
    Lorry B does 50 downhill.

    Lorry A does 49.5 uphill.
    Lorry B does 49 uphill.

Now, you or I can work out that Lorry B really shouldn't bother trying to overtake Lorry A when going down a hill, but lorry drivers, despite it being their whole job, don't seem to have mastered this yet... :)

What is a slow lane? Never heard of that before. Unless you mean the first lane?

yea, the first lane unofficially the slow lane, where you only do a maximum of a paltry 70mph and let the big boys play in the other lanes

Unless it's after dark and its empty in which case I hear lane 1 is good for up to 130mph :p

Couldnt agree more, thats why I have my own sleeper car that is until you encounter the bloke, who has spent 30K on a 1989 Golf, that goes like a ferrari.

Mine was a 535d that looked like every other 5 series exec hack on the road, except it did 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and topped out at 173mph.

    Those were the days... :D
