  • Being heavily pregnant and quite bad conditions on the road I decided it wasn't worth the risk though!!

    Wise plan...

Thats why my car has twin turbos, once I a on boost, an old bloke in a volvo would have no chance.

Yeah i'd a twin turbo BMW 5 series with 500lb/ft of torque, and quite frankly it didnt matter what the guy you were overtaking did to try to stop you or what he was driving.

BUT that was the good old days, building a house has necessitated a Passat TD, so back to having to plan overtaking in advance. :o
  • You have to develop the stealth overtake technique, there's a lot of people on the road who think they are unpaid police officers and try to dictate how the rest of us should drive, they are to be pitied really as this may be the only bit of power in their lives and they milk it.

When you have an idea you are behind one or several of these numpties, you should hang back and drive ''under their guidance'' thereby lulling them into a false sense of their own importance...then from the position you are in you can take advantage of looking up the inside when on a left hand bend and vice versa...then when the opportunity arises accelerate but don't pull out till the last moment, then you have so much speed on the twit won't be able to do anything about it....very satisfying too, it's called the 'slingshot overtake'.

Be wary these idiots do travel in herds so be prepared to have to overtake several, as they will close any gaps preventing you leap frogging, they are especially happy if they can kill you as well as proving the point.

That's what gets me about these idiots - they're putting people's lives at risk.

It was a new Volvo!! And in my defence I was driving OH's car so was unsure what to do as I'm not that familar with it! Whe I told my partner he said if i put my foot down it would have been fine (its a Mazda with the funny back doors!!) Being heavily pregnant and quite bad conditions on the road I decided it wasn't worth the risk though!!

Very sensible, I only blat past when its safe to do so, I have encountered the wannabee traffic cops on the M1, trying to slow me down, most recent incident was, 3am I am travelling north bound doing 85mph in lane 3, wannabee in lane one decides I am the fourth horseman of the apocalypse and decides he must do the community a service and slow me down, he cuts across from lane 1 to 3, seeing as the M1 was going to the left, it seemed an appropriate response to undertake and take the racing line.

My oh said he looked furious, doing the fist waving, and light flashing :rotfl:
If I ever make my millions, I am going to buy a Brabus G class with the biggest bull bars on the front especially for these idiots.

Make sure your vision is not impaired by the windscreen water becoming frozen overnight. You cannot wash your windscreen, and the salt renders you driving blind. This is very dangerous, a colleague was driving up to Gretton Homes and crashed.. he said that by the time of impact he had 10% of normal vision and there was nothing that could be done.

    You never know...
There is always the sleeper car. Tis what I prefer for myself.

Our MD has a volvo V8 which is modified quite a bit. From the outside you'd just think it was a rep mobile, but dear god it goes.

Couldnt agree more, thats why I have my own sleeper car that is until you encounter the bloke, who has spent 30K on a 1989 Golf, that goes like a ferrari.
  • I take box out of pocket and show to other driver as if it is a camera. they normally oblige within yards.
  • Must have been the same guy who done the same to near near Market Harborough the other weekend.

He also forced me to brake hard with my heavily pregnant wife in the passenger seat.

Funny thing is he would of been up for reckless driving if anything happened.

    IDIOT.
