Thanks aless, I'm ok, just a little bit sad. I know it was quite unlikely, what with Molly the perpetual ****-blocker and exclusive BF, but I was hoping a bit, you know?

    ...

Edit: aless, an American friend of mine swears that all babies cry more in the evenings because they're finding it stressful to process the day's adventures. Molly went through a phase of having a regular seven o'clock tantrum but has grown out of it and will now nap 7-8 and get up for an hour to feed and be charming.

I'm trying to figure out what word the filter blocked there! :p

Also, I'm sure you're right as almost everyone (on here & RL) has a baby that went through that stage. It's not unmanageable crying either so we'll just have to wait it out until he grows out of it!

karen - :T for Tegan! (and you!)

ooo and also Maz, there's a few of us in London (there were more in the preg thread but they seem to have disappeared? so if we ever get organised for a meet someday hopefully you can come in from Essex!)

    What's raynauds?

There is a bomb threat in Aberdeen apparently. Im so sceptical, someone probably left a bloody cake in a box, so the train station and everything is closed. Joy.
  • Morning lay-dees!

Well I stupidly was telling my assistant yesterday that Benjamin was sleeping through and hadn't woken me for ages - cue a 1.30am and 2.30am wake up call for mommy  How did he know that I had been telling someone, I have purposefully kept quiet on here because I am sure he reads it and does the opposite!!

Benjamin also refused to clap for his childminder this morning, just sat there with his hands clasped tightly together!! Oh I am going to have SO much fun with this stubborn baby

Big boy car seats have FINALLY arrived today. I ordered them ages ago but there were problems getting them delivered over from Germany. To be fair I used Olivers Babycare who I hadn't used before but I would thoroughly recommend because they sent me regular email updates to let me know what was happening - can't beat good customer service :D

2 big boy things in 1 day - it is DSSs birthday today, he is 10 :D

    Hi,

Not been around much. Been keeping up as much as possible.

Hope everyone with appointments/jags today get on ok.
SS – sorry about your result was not as you had perhaps hoped.
Aless – I read that colic mostly occurs in the evenings because it’s probably related to digestion and by that time they have a day’s worth of milk and bubbles to digest so it’s a build up over the space of a day.
NMS – nice to see you – I will get in touch soon! Keep meaning to e-mail you. x

We have Baby Sensory today and then lunch with a colleague who is off sick as she broke her wrist falling on the ice during the bad weather.
Yesterday we went to Kindermusik which was excellent. I would really recommend it if anyone has one nearby. And last night we went to see Avatar in 3D. It’s the first time we have left Holly for more than an hour so it was nice to have a night out together.

    Bye.
    x

Glam, I was thinking this, but often the 4% in points is outweighed by their mark up against Asda. The only time this seems not to be true is when boots have a 2 for £12 type offer, like now... Also then you are constrained to spend the 4% in boots which is often not the cheapest place IYSWIM?

    HTH xxx

I havent compared the price of the follow on milk but noticed the stage 1 & 2 are the sane in Boots & ASDA. If the price of the follow on is hugely different then I'd get it in ASDA, assumed it would be the same.
Just checked 2p more in Boots

    v. angry with OH right now - he had to wake J up this morning when he was getting ready for work. Being really noisy, and saying 'oh he's well lazy he should be awake by now'. Cue J waking up & has been a right misery guts ever since
Its me that has to deal with it not him - he only did it so that I had to get up instead of staying in bed til J actually woke up!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Amber's crying starts at about 11pm and lasts til about 2am  She doesn't always do that though, but it's more often than not...

We have zero signs of her falling into any kind of routine yet, and i have no idea how to encourage it? If i have to go out during the day she's obv in the car seat in the car, and she always sleeps in there, so if we have a long day she's asleep all day, either in my arms or the car/buggy. I think if she didn't sleep so much then, then she'd sleep earlier at night. How does everyone else manage with this??

Last night she was being a lil monkey and v.whingey so i kept giving her the dummy and eventually put her in the moses basket, which i put in the crib, and laid in bed rocking her, til 1:30am. Next thing i know it's 8am and my alarm is going off lol - so i can't complain.
Then i got her up to take DS to school and she's still asleep now, i haven't fed her since last night. Strangely my boobs aren't about to explode either so i did wonder if i fed her in my sleep lol :D

So far I've tried 4 different types of dummy, with no success although typically the TT discontinued ones that Henry has work better

I got the TT Pure ones, and she won't take it unless i hold it in her mouth for a bit lol. But when she's crying like that i can only assume she wants to suck, cos she takes it and keeps it, eventually.
I am starting to wonder if she's got a touch of colic (can it be a "touch of" or is it one of those things where they have it or they don't?). I considered the Infacol but the HV said once you start giving that, you have to give it all the time so not sure. She doesn't always bring her wind up very easily, but after seeing that Finn and William are the same at night, it could just be one of those things.

    Edit - Aww it's Amber's 1 month-birthday :T :D

I have a LO who cries when I put her down, I can't type and feed at the same time (can just use the mouse to read the pages) and very often she doesn't go to bed til 9 or 10 by which time I'm whacked! I also have nothing of note to say as by the time i catch up, everything is past history.

I'm being nosey Jam so feel free to tell me to be quiet but does LO have a nap about 6/7ish? My DS1 used to do this then we'd be fighting with him to get him to go to sleep which made night time very stressful for us all. We slowly encouraged him to have a nap earlier and then got him going to bed earlier. Now we have DS1 going to bed at about 7 and DS2 about 7.15ish. Its heaven to have them both out of my hair for a while. DS2 is an angel sleeper now and goes through to about 7.30/8am without waking me up - I can only think this is because I have put him down awake in his cot so he has learnt how to go back to sleep on his own. Its amazing how I learnt so much with my first baby!

Happy birthdays and hugs to all that need

Charlie was better last night only had a quick wake up at 11.30 and then ok til 5.50 when I told him it was still night time and to go back to sleep. Don't know if it worked but I didn't wake up again til 7.30am!

  • Not sure who was asking (Ales?) Tegan is always crying in the evening that is definitely the worse time. I found it easier to just keep feeding her as that was the best way to calm her down. Your baby could be coliicky because there is a build up of bubbles over the day Or my HV told me that breast milk slows down so baby may not be getting enough.

someone was asking about dummies. i felt really guilty introducing a dummy but when Tegan was crying all evening and my boobs were feeling sore we gave her a dummy and it was instant quiet! It didn't work if she was really hungry but if she wanted comfort it was a help. We started when she was 4 weeks old mainly in the evenings and now at 11 weeks we don't use it anymore as she is a bit calmer. I know a lot of people use them to help their babies sleep.
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D
