  • I don't think I have ever been to a Chinese buffet place before but I have been here at Liverpool ONE!

    Yum-diddly-yum! :D

  • I'm like you Aless, I have big issues with the dairy industry but am a complete hypocrit as I find it very hard to give it up.

I think dairy is much harder to digest than breast milk, but then I guess that is true of almost every food.

like I said, I've not done a huge amount of research or anything, but something to the effect of drinking milk beyond breastfeeding being 'unnatural' as no other animals do it IYSWIM.

That makes sense to me, if you do find any interesting stuff online, point me in that direction!

.. I keep meaning to ask - is there a reason that babies shouldn't have whippy ice-cream from a machine? There is very little that I wouldn't let Benjamin have (that's probably a lie but go with me!!) but I have in my head that they can't have that?
And last night I had to stop MIL giving Benjamin it again (she was feeding him it last time we went for neices birthday). She said 'well they didn't have these silly rules in my day' and I said 'they didn't have bl00dy ice-cream machines in your day!!!' so she humphed off!!!
Am I getting confused about not being able to eat it when you are pregnant?

Didn't realise you had a MIL like mine.. :rotfl: :p

Isn't it the risk of listeria from the machine's not having been cleaned thoroughly/often enough? (listeria being a potential cause of m/c when pregnant)

Aless, wouldn't organic be enough to alay(sp?) your worries?
I don't know much about the dairy industry but it doesn't seem bad to me

Do you find that by its use by date mince from Asda is often brown? I always worry and try to use it 2 days before the date :o

Yeah it does go brown quite quickly but it's still red and dated tomorrow - still not started cooking yet :o I have 3 x 1kg packs so better get a wriggly on. I do still cook it when it's gone a little brown but not too brown!

Damn phone kept ringing so I've unplugged it :p

I think like Elle said it's the listeria in the machine - can't guarantee it has been cleaned properly. Know they don't advise it in pregnancy but not sure about for LO's.

As a rule, I don't rate Chinese Buffets at all, and certainly not somewhere to go as a couple!!! But as a large family meal it is great and the kids love it.

The one we are going to on Thurs has a big, no, massive chocolate fountain which is why DSS wants to go!!

Personally, I would NEVER eat anything from a chocolate fountain, horrible, unhygeinic, dirty things _pale_ just the thought makes me feel ill.

Listeria was what was in my head. A whole load of crap with no nuitritional value was the other thing :o With most things MIL is good and listens to me....just not with this.

I am more than happy for him to have 'proper' ice-cream!

Me neither - we used to get cow's milk straight from the farm so not treated in anyway. Dad used to milk cow's and he now drives milk tanker from local dairies to the larger ones for processing so if it wasn't for the dairy industry daddy wouldn't have a job!
