    need some help please :)

    making fruit & veg purees

does fruit have to be soft to begin with?
I have apples, a pear, carrots & parsnip but the pear & parsnip feel hard (I don't like pear so not sure if it should be hard or soft :o)

How long should I steam them for?

would it be OK to whizz it in a smoothie maker?

Should I add baby milk/water to it before I freeze it or after or both?
(thinking about what Tia said about things getting runnier when you freeze
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

    Can I ask a part-time work question?

I want to go back three days a week, which will be 24 hours. However I'd also like to add our monthly managers meeting on as extra, so that I always have three days a week in my store, then one week a month do an extra day at the meeting. Does that make sense? Does anyone do anything similar? My business case is that it will ensure that I am actually in my store as I think that's the minimum I need to do my job, but does adding that extra day a month make things a bit messy? Any thoughts appreciated.

Are there other PT Managers GISI? What do they do?
Are you confident that your company will allow you PT hrs? 3 days working means 4 work days that you are not there in a 7 day a wk business. I'd worry about getting the hrs you want and let them do the finer details, I'm sure payroll will be able to sort payment for meeting day easily. Are you salaried or hourly paid?
My company wouldn't entertain PT Managers, they only let Asst Managers go PT if you really push it. PT contracts are like gold dust for AM's :o

Could do with finding out if the hotel restaurant has highchairs? Will make sure she's eating everything by then so no jars, will try to get her on cows milk for the start of June.

Thanks though as none of this had crossed my mind yet!

Kian still hates being put on his front. DH says he (I) need to work with this so he will be able to crawl. i said some babies dont crawl but bum shuffle.

she didnt seem that bothered about the weight gain

Jack also hates lying on his front so I think he'll be a bum shuffler!

*hugs* to searching - it'll all work out, I'm sure :) Till then, keep your chin up! I'll keep my fingers crossed for Phillip xx
MM - great news about your job! (I'll be another one phoning you for advice later in the year then) ;)

We've been out for a walk - the thaw has finally started. Got back to the house before the rain started which is great. One thing freaked me out though: we walked back via the main road as the pavements weren't great the way we went to the shops: however, that meant walking on the road as there are no pavements. This was fine until we got to our road, where we crossed the road before a lorry had to go around us - and an idiot overtook the lorry right at the junction! Thankfully we had reached the other side, but the lorry just blared their horn at the stupid car driver

Elena is now back on her playmat and grumbling a bit at me as I won't take her babygro off, which means she can't dig her heels into the mat to shuffle herself around ;)

one of the BF ladies had a 14 week old who had only gained 1.5lbs since birth & was only 8lb odd. born at term no problems - she said baby can feed for 12hrs at a time which I thought was strange

my friend's LO one can roll over and is a week younger than Jack - I know they all do things at different stages but was still abit sad! He doesnt even try to roll - but then I think at least he's not going to roll off anywhere and he can sit up for a bit! *just being silly*

Feeding for 12 hours  maybe 12 hours a day when they are tiny and they are glued to you but 12 hours straight at 14 weeks - her nipples must be all pruney like when you have been in the bath for too long :rotfl:

LOL at the being silly - my great-neice got her first tooth yesterday and Benjamin only has 2 and is 4 months older and I felt this massive urge to try and get his teeth out somehow :o God knows what I thought I was going to do!! She is probably going to overtake him in terms of weight too, she is less than 2lbs behind now, although I am not so worried about him keeping up with that one ;)

I usually add water after I defrost it. From the kettle. I make mine with an electric whisk thingy but add a baby sauce to my veg puree else they're a bit boring. Yesterday I used half carrot, few chunks of swede and a potatoe then added a cheese sauce. The noise she made eating was approval and I froze enough for a week. :D

  • Aww, Glam he will do things when he decides :)

There is a baby at my group one day younger than Jamie and almost the same birth weight! They always get compared and although other baby can walk, Jamie has hair and teeth! :D;).
