I gave him weetabix for the first time this morning as a change from ready brek, he loved it! I only gave him one bisk though and it seemed a bit small compared to his usual porridge serving, but "they" recommend a adults serving is two, so I cant give him two? Can I?! Gutbag child!
Then again, two weetabix would fill me for all of half an hour, I usually have three!
I'm sure MFD gives B 2 weetabix, Chris would never manage to eat 2 now though :p
Just be aware that they are low cal, high fibre so shouldn't be a massive part of an under 2yo's diet :)

Is mine the only baby clinic that weighs them with clothes?
We do nudey weighing at checkups with the doc but weekly weighings are done with clothes. I always dress K in the same stuff: vest, socks and babygrow so I get a good indication of weight.
NICE guidelines state they should be nude until 2yo, it was 1yo until a few months back, I see the benefit of accuracy when they're under 1as a nappy and clothes can weigh a lot comparatively but not when a toddler.

It's always been a full strip for mine. The weekly session is called "weigh, stay and play" and they have a mat out with toys so you can play and chat with the other Mam's and babies. You put your name on a list and strip baby off down to vest and nappy, then they play until it's their turn to get weighed. You just slip the nappy and vest off for that and put it back on, then dress them at leisure on the mat. It's always boiling hot and in a room in the middle of the building, so no dangers of babies getting chilled!

Perhaps its just a logistics thing then, our 1 baby clinic serves 3 GP practices and I would think at the very least 40 babies over a 1.5 hr period. Obviously with that amount of coming and going there is no way the room is staying hot enough to have nakie babies. There are 4 HV's hanging about if you need a chat but usually its just in and out

BM, have you complained about the nursery girl? Not being able to remember a kid's name when you see her every day for three months is a bit ridiculous... and is the favourite kid one of her friends' kids or something?

em, fergie can't eat a whole weetabix, but I don't think 2 is too much, cos that's still not many calories compared to what he needs in a day. he needs a little more than 1000 calories. weetabix are only 70 cals each from memory...

    hth x

full strip here for weighing as well. HV told me its so they can get a good look at baby rather than just the weight.

mind you if you had something to hide you probably wouldnt go to the clinic in the first place.

  • Benjamin eats 1 weetabix with no problem but can't manage 2 (although Sami is right that I did try him with 2!!)
He has a weetabix, 2 fromage frais and some fruit for breakfast when he is with me (a satsuma, a whole pear, about 8 grapes or 6 strawberries). He will eat fruit until it comes out of his ears!

We get rudey nudey for weigh ins too - the only problem is that they put some of that paper on the changing mat which just gets all crunched up as you wrestle with the clothes!! We do big boy sitting up on the scales now too!

Sami - I thought we established that fibre wasn't a problem for babies? When Krystal said before about brown bread we had a look and it was fine
