Sami thanks for that linky i've never seen it before. The nearest do do seat checks are 30 miles away  I don't live in the sticks why does nothing happen closer to me :rotfl:
  • SM - I like my HV (most of the time LOL) I went to see her every other week when I was off on ML.

At our clinic you went in to HV, had a chat about everything, how baby is progressing etc then weigh baby, agree the best course of action to move anything forward/resolve any problems and generally make sure everything was okay.

Hi Rmac :) sounds like you've been having good times! Walking and learning to talk is a fun period :T we went through first shoes, and banana, and dadden, a few months back :) he also started saying "More", and then "MoreMoreMore", before he started saying "Mama" but he did get the two confused sometimes for a bit :p
Thanks for asking and Bruno and family are mostly-ok but OH remaining very stressed with the world, her own anger management and patience etc. She even ordered an amazon book yesterday about not being angry with toddlers.

She had a little vent after his bedtime about how much she hates early evenings at the moment, first dealing with him as he becomes a little stroppy tyrant as bedtime approaches (he is always less good-natured and more demanding in the early evenings!), and then after he goes to bed we have to tiptoe around for quite a while or he wakes and wails a lot. I like our flat but unfortunately the "only sensible room to be the nursery" is in the centre of the house, beside our lounge and on the corridor to and from the kitchen and bathroom...

Nice website start :) are you aiming primarily at "kid's cakes", birthdays and parties and such? I only ask because I think right now the site style is very child-friendly and might subtly put off people looking for wedding cakes or other more formal 'grown-up' affairs as they will assume you are child-specialised... iyswim. But feel free to ignore me, not my area of expertise by any means!

bruno - tell me to go away but I think your OH sounds a lot like me when I'm at home with DH in the evenings. I feel much better about things and DH! now I've spoken to the Dr.....

thanks - children are our market for the moment! We aren't keen on weddings as it's such a pressure as brides are a law unto themselves and I would feel the stress of it being someones perfect day a bit too much until we are more established! plus you get into a whole different price league then.......

Hey MacSmiler! I missed you xxx

Do you know that waitrose do VHC plates, napkins, tablecloths etc?

Edit: Some of your images are a little dark. It would be worth investing in a lamp to light the cakes with when you are taking photos. You could probably buy a white half-cube set-type-thing to put the cakes in to take photos of them (or get a kind relative who is good with their hands to knock one up).
The images are where the orders are IMHO - you need good quality images to sell your cakes.
I would also put indicative price ranges on there, you can always put subject to detail. Would I be more likely to call if I knew that an average birthday cake was going to cost somewhere between £x and £y??? Probably in my case I would.

yes I am planning on having co-ordinating accessories!!!!! :p not very mse but I've been shopping around for the best price :D

thanks - I had forgotten about prices! that's been the last bit to pull together so will put a range price/from price up.

I;m working on more photos - but neither of our talents really runs to photography - YET! so working on that. but I appreciate your comments as they are all really helpful and constructive and make me feel warm and fuzzy :D

    i know, i know :p

last night, she went to sleep late (9pm ish, which was a knock on effect from her getting up that 45mins later as she didn't have a morning nap, napped early afternoon and then flaked around 5pmish depsite everything being done to keep her awake).

the problem is though, during the night, she still had two 7oz bottles. Maddness I know. She ate quite well during the day (for her). I know every well she is using the bottle as a comfort and the HV that is coming around says giving it to her is like a reward for waking up. So i need to break that (which is part of the sleeping plan).

Nightmare at work today. Back to do doing a job that someone should have done themselves but becuase they are too lazy, it's come to me

AF - just so oyu know. We have our nightmare sleeper back :D;)

  • Can I ask a part-time work question?

I want to go back three days a week, which will be 24 hours. However I'd also like to add our monthly managers meeting on as extra, so that I always have three days a week in my store, then one week a month do an extra day at the meeting. Does that make sense? Does anyone do anything similar? My business case is that it will ensure that I am actually in my store as I think that's the minimum I need to do my job, but does adding that extra day a month make things a bit messy? Any thoughts appreciated.

Beenie- not sure about your maintenance question, but could you give the tax credits people a call to find out? FWIW I definitely think you should pursue him for the money as Amber deserves it, even if you're not bothered about it.

    Lovely site!

I just wanted to say that I agree with MFD about the images needing to be a little lighter if you can, we usually optimise photography for web by brightening, upping the contrast and trying to have as little background as possible, to show off the product to the max!

I hope you don't think this is cheeky, more meant to be helpful, but here is an example of what I would usually do to an image for a sales website:

random question for OS'ers do you know how so make cookies really gooey and yummy like the ones you get from dominos pizza?
I made some cookies yesterday but they were quite dry so I couldn't decide less flour/more egg/more butter

take them out of the oven before you think they are ready. they carry on cooking while they cool, but that way should still be gooey inside. If that doesn't work then up the liquid/butter ratio in the mixture a little. other than that I'll see what recipe I can pass on.....

my MIL would love me to be more like you. i listen to much to what i am 'told' as opposed to what i should be doing. although in my defence, i am just trying to get her to eat better.

benjamin is not a pot belly, well if he is, LO is a bigger one. i am pretty sure she weighs more than him :D:D

i wouldnt care about the amount of milk she was having if her eating was good.

saying that, along with MFD's question re milk .. what are the other March babies eating on average??? (quite possilby and most likely, i'm overreacting.)

well we are early Feb and still have 6-7oz am, 6-7oz approx 2-3pm (sometimes bottle, sometimes cup) and then 8-9 oz just before bed. sometimes she gets hungry in the night. apparently we are meant to cut down again at 12months, but my little girl loves her milk, isn't overweight and isn't ready to let go of another bottle/feed just yet. if LO is doing fine weight wise go with YOUR INSTINCT. You are a great mum and just need to trust yourself. your LO is in good hands x

not sure if they offer it or not. with Thomas Cook it has to be added on. If you booked in a store they can do it for you. or just call the airline. i never booked many of their holidays. sorrry couldnt help better
