Horrid in a "they made my baby cry" kinda way (and for cry, read scream the building down) :( He's okay now, all forgotten about, catching up on his smiling.. ya know, what with missing out on a whole 45mins of smiling, there's a lot to catch up on!

Aww, poor wee bubba. As you say tho, hes all forgotten, its worse for you x

Why were you on the pregancy thread looking at the EDD list??????:D

While you are still about actually. What are you're current thoughts on weaning? Do you think H is ready? Round here the HV comes to see you at about 14/15 weeks for the weaning talk. Pretty sure K is no where near ready.
How much milk does H drink at the moment and whats she weighing in at these days?
If you don't mind me asking of course!

Hello! Sorry was just getting Holly ready as DH is taking her to MILs today. I am going shopping on my own so need to get ready soon.

I had my reasons for being on the PG thread, but definitely not pregnant!! ha ha.

HV came at start of December to discuss weaning. Whilst she said guidelines are 6 months, she said anytime after 17 weeks if she's showing signs (watching us eating, showing an interest in food, feeding more regularly etc). I don't think Holly is ready as she still goes for long periods without a bottle (around 12 hours most nights). She is only taking 4 bottles most days (sometimes 5) and I make up 8oz bottles. On average she takes about 30oz each day. What does Kieren take? I don't feel 4 bottles is very many, but 30oz seems ok so happy with that.

I am going to get prepared though and start buying in some baby rice, and weaning spoons etc for when we decide she is ready. I am looking forward to it, but in no rush either if you know what I mean. I think she is still a few weeks off it.

I really need to take her to get weighed this week. She hasn't been weighed since start of December when she was 11lb 14oz. I am sure she is much heavier now. It's been a combination of being away Christmas shopping and not getting back in time, and then being snowed in and not wanting to drag her out and undress her in this weather. I am keen to get her weighed though as she had only put on 2oz last time and that was over 2 weeks.
We only have a 1 1/2hr baby clinic on a Wed and it was mobbed last time so you are waiting around - it's total chaos as there doesn 't seem to be a queueing system or anything and you feel really pressured at the changing tables as people are hanging around trying to hurry you up and work out if they can go next etc. What weight is Kieren now?
  • Afternoon :hello:. We've been at baby clinic this morning- my nearly 7 week old chunk now weighs a whopping 12lb 13oz....my booby juice is definitely full fat :p. In other good news I have lost 7lb in the two weeks over Christmas and New Year despite huge chocolate consumption.

Just making some soup as part of my baby weight shifting quest. Soup and bread has to be the best lunch ever. The question is do I treat myself to this so I can make home made bread too?

Hi everyone!! GISI, yay that Henry is putting on weight so well. Toby is very similar, he weighed 11lb 9.5oz last Weds and I am gonna get him weighed at clinic this Thursday. This will be the first baby clinic I will have gone to. Isnt it satisfying when u look at them and know they have put it all on from our own milk :) I will try and upload an up to date pic of Toby shortly has he has changed lots :D

Well my dad has been here this morning and has made our tall ikea shelves into 2 smaller shelf units, looks so much better!! I have rearranged the stuff on the one we are keeping in the lounge and it looks really nice, just gotta sort out then find a home for our paperwork like statements etc. Fun!!

I was meant to be cutting out the rubbish today too but there is still so much here I am not doing very well at all!! Had a good tuna light mayo and cucumber sarnie for lunch, but some roses chocs just fell in my mouths, oops!!

That BM looks a total bargain GISI, I am v tempted to get it too now!! I used to have a BM and loved it, I miss not being able to make my own.
    Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j
  • Ooh, Toby sounds very similar to Henry! Everytime he gets weighed the HV asks me if I'm supplementing BF with formula, but I'm not! He just feeds really well.

Pre-baby I used to make bread by hand sometimes so fancy getting a BM for the ease of it.

Also only sti;; on stage 1 milk

I am going to get prepared though and start buying in some baby rice, and weaning spoons etc for when we decide she is ready. I am looking forward to it, but in no rush either if you know what I mean. Kieren was 14lb 1oz last Thursday. Here they stay clothed for weighing at baby clinic and only get stripped for weighing at checks and stuff. K only wears a sleepsuit and vest tho so I get a good indication of actual weight.
so altho we have to Q sometimes for the scales we are usually in and out quick , when DD was a baby they were weighed naked and it was a PITA, esp when they peed on you lol

I've finished all my work tasks for the day!!!

My research assistant just called me from the office. I think he is a bit embarrassed because I have clearly been there (stuff all moved around, stuff added etc) and he was not there. But I have delegated the 9:30 meeting tomorrow to him and will spend tomorrow mostly here but briefly in the office.

    afternoon all!!
    hope everyone is well
aww elle, did you get the not very nice nurse?

xmaslolly came on to tell us a couple of weeks ago that she was pg again.

weaning- i want to leave it as long as possible before starting Kian, am gonna follow HV/peeps on here advise and wait till hes shows an interest in food. he's started to watch us eat but as he's not started trying to reach for the food i'll leave him. If the ASDA baby event has some weaning things on offer, i;ll defo get them to be ready.

strted my wii fit routine today. done 30 mins of step, jogging and some stretches. if i can do that every day i';ll be happy. just need to eat better and i will be a slimmer jillie in no time! ideally want to be about 1 1/2 stone lighter by Kian's christening (which i need to start looking into)

Hi Jillie, I missed XL coming on here.

Kieren shows an interest in food, but he is interesed in everything! Every toy you give him now goes straight into his mouth and he tries to eat the muslin or baby wipes when I wash his face.
Still, I don't think he is hungry. Will try to hold out for as long as poss cos interested in BLW

When the HV and midwives came to the house, they weighed her with her nappy and vest on but at the baby clinic, they were doing them naked. I might just ask for it to be done with vest and nappy in future to be honest. I will need to make the effort to go on Wednesday. I would imagine she is at least 14lbs. I hope so anyway otherwise GISI has zoomed past me and Henry is only a young thing!! ha ha.

So over the period of a day, Holly is probably taking about the same amount as Kieren, she just has less bottles. 4 per day is very handy, but they only make 8oz bottles so I am worried that if she drains them, I will have to start sterilising empty 2 pint cartons for her lol. I am not restricting her by the way, she has always been fed whenever hungry and she is a very happy, healthy baby. She has just always slept through the night so never had a bottle then to drop. I feel people must think I am starving her, but honestly, she gets what she wants lol!

She has been sniggering a little bit for the past couple of weeks, and last week we had a proper giggle, but this week a few lengthy giggles he he. And she is very vocal now too - been babbling for ages, but now it's getting louder and louder!! She is shouting at her toys a lot.
