Eek, my Nanny starts in a week! It suddenly seems so real. 4 hours a week, although I don't have any appointments scheduled yet, I think for the first few weeks it'll just be an hour to build up. Going to get that referal for physio, that'll give me something to do then. I'm terrified, and suddenly really don't want to leave LO. 3 or 4 hours out of 168 isn't too bad is it? Thats about what time he'd spend with grandparents if I lived near anyone.

SS, it's 3 days into 2010 and you already have all your gifts sorted?! I'm not saying it's impossible - my problem would be finding a place to store everything for a year! You're very ambitious, missy.

SS you do put the rest of us to shame being so organised

Have a question for ladies that are or have breast fed, do you's have any recommendations for a manual pump, i want to try BF but last time i failed miserably so this time i would like to at least have a back up plan so that if i can't booby feed i can at least express it, problem is i can't afford the price of the electric ones so it would have to be manual.

Any one got recommendations OR warnings to avoid.

    Thanks in Advance

Check with Claire as she had a TT manual one on Ebay as she offered it to me but I have one.... it might not be sold yet.

Cold and frosty here but no snow....fire in living room packed up so waiting for engineer to come and fix it....

I'm back at home now and already more productive than I was in the office - all my emails are sent, one of my documents is already updated a bit and I've started the second half of the paper I've been writing for months now.

Weezlie, you are indeed a superstar - and speaking of quick, has anyone looked at the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread recently? There's a familiar face on there......... (no, not me :p )

Edit: Maz, it's because we're not planning to be in the UK for Christmas this year - all family gifts are bought and in my parents' loft :rotfl:

  • Hi all, just thought I would pop in as i haven't been around for over a month i think. We all seem to be doing ok except the usual coughs, colds and teething going on.

Xmas decs are down and tomorrow Jack starts his first full day at playschool (9-3), prev been doing mornings. He's looking forward to it and before term ended i put him in for a lunch time session, so he knew what to expect. Must remember to make his lunch bag this evening. Molly ended up gate crashing the xmas play and didn't see anything wrong with it, she sang all the songs and did all the actions. Luckily no-one minded and were impressed at her ability to copy quickly. Less than 2 months then she can join Jack and they'll be in the same class together. She's been so keen to stay with Jack for several months now that if she dares cry when i do finally leave her, then i'll cry too.

Hello to all the new mums, i'm sure there are loads.

    Happy New year everyone.

three2be, I missed about pumps. Personally, I wouldn't go for an second hand pump. Only hospital grade ones like the Medela Symphony has closed circuits, so it is possible for the acutally mechanical system to be contaminated. It is only a small risk, but not one I'd take. Also, you don't know the history of a pump. My first pump was an Avent Isis electric, and it only lasted 6 weeks, because I had to pump for several hours every day. Pumps still work when they are on the way out, but output decreases and noise increases. If you are planning to pump to supplement, I'd go for a manual, and use it while feeding, or in the morning, to get the best out of it. If you ever need to seriously consider exclusive pumping, the cost of a decent pump (hiring or buying) is probably cheaper than formula, so might be worth considering. I hope that won't be necessary, but if it is, I can help more with pump choosing then.

Talking of pumps, I still have my Symphony! LO hasn't had a bottle for 6 months, but I still have it there, just incase. I think I'm crazy!

Yes, no real explanation or apology, so no idea what was/is wrong and if it was to do with me. Shame really, we were so close, but I feel let down and like I can't trust her or rely on her

Saw that but even so, still too organised although have enough Christmas cards and wrapping paper for this year... does that count?
