Buttons, you can give her paracetamol and ibuprofen, alternate them or give them together if it's bad... Pop a cold pack just behind her ear and get in touch with the Dr... It shouldn't be a matter of how long she's had the infection, it's whether its viral (in which case antibiotics won't work) or bacterial (when they will) and the only way to know is if a Dr peers in there with an auriscope... Or nasty stuff oozes out...

Tia, hope DS2 feels better soon!

I had to drag my sorry bum out this morning... Aimee usually gets picked up by my friend and then I usually walk my friends daughter home after school but had to walk them both in this morning... It's cold and slidy out there!!!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

    Morning all..

*hugs* for SS and Tia's DS :(

I can't get myself motivated this morning :o Need to get Rhys up in a minute cos we're at the hospital for 11am. Think we'll come back and have a nap on the sofa.
  • Hi all

mat leave officially ended today for me :( Still have 5 weeks holidays, but I am no longer on mat leave, which is actually quite upsetting :(

Hope you all have a nice day xx

ETA - ((hugs)) tia, hope he gets better soon
and BM, take her to the docs anyway if she is still sore, antibs are there to help, so if she needs them give her them :)

Been up all night with Keira screaming. She has obv got an ear infection, first one she has had. Her ear is sore, she's grabbing at it etc. I noticed she had a fever earlier on in the day and had a cough/cold, so thats maybe whats caused it?

Dunno what I should do? been giving her infant paracetamol, think thats all I can do? as docs dont give antibiotics unless its been 2-3 days apparently?

Plus dont want her having antibiotics unless totally neccassary but then if it helps the pain? ARGH! Bloody knackered, shes fell asleep for now, I put some cotton wool in her lug, not sure if that even helps!

Paracetamol does nothing (trust me I know), ibuprofen helps the swelling. Get some cold on it and get her to stop pulling it, pulling changes the pain away from that throbbing which is why it's so tempting, but it will be better if she can try and not touch it at all. Lying down makes it worse, so get her propped up on pillows.

No bath or shower till it's away, I got water in mine yesterday and it's started it off again.

Take her to the GP, they have stopped holding off on antibiotics, but like Krystal said, sometimes they help sometimes hey don't but they need to check the ear. They can give an antibiotic spray that has an anesthetic effect which does help (drops just rub back out).

And don't worry if she is off her food while she has it.

    morning all!

Well DH is back at work today so Finn & I are on our own! Actually not nervous at all - looking forward to it, weirdly. Also going to start trying some cloth nappies today, as the small supply of disposables is quickly dwindling :p. They all seem so huge on him, though, even the smallest sizes! Really wanted to take a bath, but he's being fussy so I daren't until he properly falls asleep. agh, crying now...:p

    Morning all,

Sorry the little one is ill Buttons, i suffered badly when i was young from ear infections and like people said their really was nothing to help, Alternating paracetamol and an anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen took off the edge, and heat packs but i was always told not to put cotton wool in my ear as it apparently helps any bacteria to multiply i still used it most of the time as drafts were like a knife in my ear. Also get her to lie on the side with the sore ear so that any gunk inside comes out rather than slooshing back in HTH

Thanks weezle will get the photo today and send it, Dad has become rather attached to all the photos even the copies that i get him, Their is no hurry for it to be done i will just say i want a copy for myself, Thanks so much, your a star.

Thanks for the advice on the pumps too, their are so many, i will keep an eye out for second hand electric but at least i know some of the manual ones are passable.

EEEEKKK only 27days to go, I will be lost trying to keep up on here :rotfl:

ETA - aaawwwww MM he is gorgeous, can't beleive i will have another monster in a month, yes panic is setting in lol
