  • Evening all.

SM - you really need to call back and speak to a supervisor about starting a payment plan. It has been a long time since I worked in Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit but we were told to do ANYTHING to avoid a case going to court. This included setting a £1 a week clawback from somebody's earnings. If a claimant offered to pay £2 we would have been very happy unless for some reason they were taking the pee (I had one woman whose partner was earning over £40k a year - there was no way I would take a couple of quid a week as a settlement from her).

HB and CTB is not exactly the same as Council Tax but it is the same authority so it is highly unlikely that different rules will apply.

Can I ask how the debt accrued? Was it that you didn't pay whilst you were there or that you didn't inform them when you moved? It may make a difference in how it is handled.

My basic advice is that it is an absolute nonsense that you can't do anything until a court summons is issued - get something, even a couple of quid paid ASAP.

Could Philips wage go towards the debt?

    ((HUGS)) hun.

    That's a fabulous picture, Feelie :)

I hope everyone's ok. Big hugs all around.

Edit, chopsticks, would it make you feel better to think that she just does it cause she likes you best? ;)

I know it doesn't help, but it'll be ok. I started a quick in-the-crb routine with Molly and it seems to work - I talk her through it, so we go down into Molly's lovely bed, and here's the binkie and your blanket - tuck tuck tuck the blaket in - and here's Spot and Poe Dragon [her crib toy friends] and then I kiss her head and say, Sleep well, lovely Molly, I love you (it's a bit longer at night) and another kiss and I leave the room. It took a few days for her to get it, but now she holds her mouth open for the binkie like a baby bird and she's out in a couple of minutes.

    Thank you :)

I sing Twinkle Twinkle as I'm putting her down, put three toys in her cot with her and tuck her under a blanket. She only has those three toys and the blanket in the daytime. At night time, she's in a sleeping bag so doesn't have a blanket. I then kiss her and say "have a nice sleep, see you in a little while". And she just starts crying.

I think I'm going to cancel my plans for tomorrow and stay in. I haven't got any plans for Wednesday so I'll have two days to have another go at being consistent with her.

I think I might order her a Sophie the Giraffe :)

Oh, SS, my Vertbaudet order arrived. I really hope you get yours, as I'm pleased with the swimsuit and hat.

  • Chopsticks, I've given up on getting El to have daytime sleeps in the cot but if I stick her in the pram and wheel it up and down the hall a few times she sleeps like a dream for me, is that worth a try or do you need her to sleep in the cot?
