  • First time of posting anything and probably getting it all wrong. My wife and I are expecting twins in may. Already have a girl who will be 2 in may aswell. Can anyone suggest freebies or low cost places to get baby bits as i have lost my job and we now only have one salary.

Sorry to all if this is posted it wrongly
  • Sparkle - Of course you are doing things right, lots of things. And 6 is a funny age for little boys at the best of times.

Have you tried praising OH when he does do things? For some reason my hubby has been quite helpful around the house recently and I made sure I thanked him last night in the hope that it carries on ;)

I've emailed every group in the area, and all have said the same thing :(

I've not managed to find any LLL groups either. Distinct lack of breastfeeding socialising going on around here!

Sounds like a gap in the market - maybe you should start one? :D

At least you can FIND details of your local booby clubs! I can't seem to locate anything other than LLL lectures (which sound dead boring BTW). I mean there must be stuff, but I'm clueless and the HV didnt want to tell me about any groups til Finn was 6 weeks ....
have you googled breastfeeding cafe I know they have a website with local ones on it.
I second ringing surestart and do you have a general number for HV/s? I'd just call and ask if they know of any groups

Sami - do you still have your mei tai? Do you use it much? Just asking cause I was bidding on one on ebay, but as Caitlyn's almost 7 months I don;t know whether I'd use it much. I know it's suitable until they're toddlers - but they get heavy as they get older!
I still have it, I don't use it as much as Glam and feely but that is mostly because I have to consider Chris and taking him to the toilet etc but I don't use it any less now than when he was smaller, does that make sense?

I have one for Lexi, she is 9 months and do still use it (not often mind but thats cos I prefer the buggy) She is heavy but I find it holds her pretty well and I have a good amount of support.

Pink, toby is 9 months and at least 22lb. I use the mei tai all the time, more than the buggy. I'll be walking to the coffee afternoon with it later. I don't have any problem wearing it even with a heavy baby.

    Congratulations.
You will get some freebies with your bounty packs but not an awful lot tbh, Have you tried freecycle? There is usually lots of baby stuff there. Ebay and car boots are other favourites of people on this thread and have found some fantastic bargains!
Also remember that you dont need all that much, mothercare would have you believe you need to spend a fortune but you dont!
Good luck with the pregnancy I hope it all goes well

Sparkle Have you turned Lexi round in it yet to have her facing out? Feelie was asking if it was possible. I know it is, but i've not tried it yet with V. I think she'd like looking where she was going so she could shout 'hiya' to everyone.

ETA: Feelie have you tried it yet?

    Ooh, twins, how exciting!

Do you have stuff left over from your first? And do you know what sex your babies are?

Freecycle is great for baby stuff but it does depend on your area. Try the advanced search on ebay and look for baby stuff within 5 or 10 miles of your postcode. If you have transport you can get some great bargains. We also got a lot of stuff from carboots.

Oh, and Asda have a baby event on so you can stock up on nappies and wipes while they're cheap. Look online too and check the discounts code board to see if there's money off codes around. It can be cheaper to get stuff delivered.

    Thanks GISI :)

Big hugs Feelie - is there nothing near you on netmums?

Thanks - I have a murrons pouch sling but can't seem to get along with it. I use the pushchair but she get's fed up in that after a while, so I thought a mei tai might be worth getting. Plus we're going on holiday in July - I know she'll be 1 then but it will save taking the buggy everywhere - and DH can carry her too.
