SM - when I took Isla for her jabs on Monday a girl of about 4/5 kept running upto me and grabbing at Isla. Her mum barely tried to stop her, just said 'oh she winds her little brother up like that' She was being really rough trying to pull her hands and stroke her head, I was so relieved when we got called in. Her poor little bro must be fed up of it!

I'd tell her to get her horrible kid away and say you're in the doctor's because she has a contagious rash and it might be [insert nasty disease here]. Bl00dy people touching other people's babies...

So we had a marathon trek to Ikea today with friends who needed new wardrobes. The plan was that we'd rent one of their vans, hence going together - but Ikea no longer sells what they want in the colour they want so they walked out with a throw rug and no wardrobes, whereas we'd assumed they were getting wardrobes so picked up all the stuff we normally want to buy but can't get home - a vitrine, extra shelves, a table and chairs for Molly's room and from the bargain corner a pre-built set of bookshelves. And we ended up having to pay full price for delivery because it cost €2 more than the van and it meant we didn't have to drive it back.

And then the escalator at our train station was out of order so we had to hike the smaller stuff up five flights of stairs. With Molly in tow. And OH was very kind and while I guarded the bookcase he went to get me a drink and brought me back some bonus meatballs - so all ends quite well really :)

I'm now settled in for the night, possibly the weekend.

  • SM - Katie was a bit out of sorts yesterday and was complaining her arm was sore near the injection site, which the nurse did warn us about - said it could last 4 or 5 days but she's back to normal today.

Fairy post question - is online postage the same as metered postage? Can I stick the parcels in the large Franked Mail postbox?

    No!

Franked ("metered") mail involves a machine and pre-bought "bulk" postage, at a slightly discounted price.

Online mail is normal retail price.

Only mail in company franking pouches can be put into those mailboxes - the pouch gives the address of the originating company.

    Sorry!

(But if you're saying that the franked mail box is the only one with a large enough opening for your parcels then ... I didn't say this ... pretend you never asked and put your parcels in there anyway. All that'll happen is that a postman will grumble as he sorts them out!)

    Hi Pink.

Kezia does this, until today it was the only time I'd got giggle out of her. It seems to be when I pull her sleeves off, she shrugs her shoulders and pulls her arms in as if she is cold (which she isn't) and lets out a tiny little giggle, it is soooo cute.

Then today I was stood with her in front of the mirror (fave position - vain like the donor clearly ;)) and pretended to drop her and she let out proper prolonged giggles. So pleased, now I just need her to do it for an audience. Off to parents tomorrow to scrounge roast dinner so hopefully she will giggle at them, would make their day.

Luckily everything I'm posting is squishy! Postie won't mind me putting big things in a postbox will he?

I suppose I could be brave and go to the post office. In fact, I could walk there on Monday!

Feelie, I just edited and added an extra note for you!

If a walk to the Post Office sounds boring ... just think, halfway up the country, I'll be doing exactly the same thing as you!
