Ooh great, finally, thanks for letting us all know, apparently it's -4 in Crosby tonight, I can believe it also, not been out my door all day except to put the rubbish out.

I'm glad we have at last got a payment but Crosby is literally on the coast, it is always colder further away from the coast and Crosby is the weather station for disadvantaged (and very cold) parts of Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and NE Wales which arnt hugging the coast quite so much. This is why those areas seem to be getting shortchanged compared to places like Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham - a quick postcode check and i've noticed those big cities have been getting 2-3 payments and it has not been colder than a lot of the areas Crosby 'represents'.

Thanks I will look into that right now:T

No probs. We switched to them in October, rang to ask for meter exchange in mid November and then our pre pay meters were out by start of December, just in time for this cold snap. Didn't credit check me or anything, just made the appointments and that was that!

Was a right pain in the bum whenever we used to run out of gas and would have to turn it back on at the meter and then relight the back boiler (no central heating here... meant to be getting it June this year which is handy :D)

They set our Direct Debits following the exchange at £39 each. Prior to that was topping up £15 a week on electric and anything from £5 to £20 a week on gas depending on the season obviously so better off financially too :D

EDIT - once the meter has switched make sure you switch to one of their online tariffs as the standard tariff is more or less identical to prepayment so you wont be saving much. We're now on online s@ver v4 which is about 2p a unit cheaper than the standard rate. You could also switch to a new supplier but we felt that was a bit cheeky when they've removed the prepay meters for us

    I'm really pleased. :T
We have had the heating on pretty much constantly since before Christmas. It has been on as low as we can bear, but I'm still pooping it about my bill!

I looked this morning and it blew a raspberry at me. Now this evening it's saying that it's triggered 1 payment :D

Here's throwing some triggers to everyone who is cold and hasn't had any!

  • If you come under the Crosby weather station like myself and many others do then looking at the forecast for the next week it looks like its going to be minus for at least the next week or so,Fingers crossed it triggers another payment off to cover are soon to be expensive bills.

You can keep an eye on your local temperatures at https://www.weatheronline.co.uk. I wrote a post about it earlier. I know I keep going on about it, but it may help people track their local temperatures.

  • I spotted that post before,thanks.
I do think we have been cheated out of a payment or 2 because of where the Crosby weather station is,i live alot further inland than crosby and its been bitter here for a good while.
I dread my bill coming in but with young children in the house and 1 not long coming out of hospital i have to have the heating on.
Seems most of our money goes on either the Gas or Electric bill.
Wonder what profits these companys will get this year.

    Okay our update.

Hubby rang up the CWP dept and they confirmed we are eligible, and also clarified that it does not look payments of the first of the 3 triggers have been paid out to us yet, the guy could not understand as he said our area was receiving payouts as from last week.
We checked our account before ringing them, and as there was no CWP we thought we should make that call to chase this up, because we had this problem last year as well.

They are supposed to be ringing us back first thing in the morning.

    Ok, spill the beans!
    Which department did you phone?
    Do you have a number?

As suggested, yesterday and today I have phoned my BDC who deal with my IS, and both times, they have said that they will have a list at the end of January of those that have received CWP's. If I'm not on the list, and should be, then they will look at it then.

I feel second class, more than normal.

I know my postcode has 2 triggers, and my next door neighbour has had their letter and payment.

I'm grumpy, as this should be quite easy to resolve.
