My OH got £50 in his account today. It says 3 triggers in our area, so should expect another payment.
We had no idea he'd be entitled to anything, I only saw it mentioned on BBC news this morning and thought id have a look. Im on ib and he is on JSA we have 2 children under 5. This is a god send. We have budgeted for electricity but this money will help a lot and means we can let the kids leave the living room without them freezing elsewhere in the house.

  • Second payment in today - think the 3rd trigger for LS postcodes must be for the week 1st - 7th Jan (even though this does not finish until tomorrow but its obvioulsy going to fall under the 0 degrees) from the past two payments they have been sent the day after the week ends so the 3rd one should be sent on the 8th Jan expected in bank mid next week. Am grateful for extra money but sick of snow now....kids off school prob for rest of week and stuck in house with lots of things that need doing elsewhere....

Spoke to Income Support at my BDC this morning.

Yet again, silly answers as to why I'm not receiving payments, and I have to wait until they have a list at the end of January, and see if I'm on the list.
Well, my neighbours have their letters and payments, and I'm sill waiting.
    Automatic my a**e!

I'd actually like to buy some coal while it's blooming freezing, at this rate, I'll be buying it at summer prices.

utter rubbish they know which areas have been triggered, the relevant weather stations tell them ring them back and hopefully youll get someone who knows what they are talking about. if you look back a few pages dx2 posted the latest area postcodes that were triggered on the 4th jan.

To check the current temperature at your nearest weather station:

    Go to https://www.weatheronline.co.uk
Put your postcode (include the space!) in the green 'City and Postcode Forecasts' box which is situatedin the centre of the page.
This will bring up a forecast with the area stated above. On the right hand side there are a list of options listed 'Cities' with 'Forecast' highlighted in green. Click on 'current weather' which is the next option down.

You can then choose between hourly and 6 hourly temperature readings as well as choosing oC or F.

According to ours, it hasn't dropped below zero despite the snow and ice. It must be the heat from the busy air base it's situated on!

(we fall under the same weather station as other postcodes who have been activated to receive payments, how does that work?!)

several people have been on here who come under crosby and they havent been triggered either, bit odd if you ask me, i cant see anywhere in the uk over the last two weeks who hasnt had it cold enough to trigger.

Errr....we haven't! All the surrounding postcodes who use the SAME weather station have been triggered for payment, but we haven't
