I too complained about non receipt of CWP on Monday and received the same response as above on Tuesday. Today, Wednesday, I received a phone call from Income Support in response to my queries.

It turns out that the reason I had not received anything was because they only had my elderr child (5) on their records and not my youngest (2)

She said that this does sometimes happen whereby JCP doesnt update Income support about new children, the reason being that extra money for additional children is now paid through tax credits where it used to be income support. Its only at times like this that this omission gets recognized and only then if it is brought to their attention by the claimant.

If I hadn't complained then I wouldnt have received anything. I would therefore urge anyone whose entitlement to CWP is due to income support and child under 5 to chase up any payments due in case a similar mistake has occurred.
  • I fully agree with the previous poster - I've just checked today as we're now due 3 payments, and the records only showed the eldest (12) and not the younger two (4 & 2). We now have to fill in yet another form (JSA3) to add the younger two, then we will qualify for the payments.
If you haven't had anything but you're entitled - I urge you to chase it. If they won't check for you, ask for a supervisor - go as high as you need to until you get the information you need.
  • i think they normally go in on wednesdays. last year i got them on wednesdays also. i rang bak today to find out wen ill get my other 3, she said they could be anytime, she sounded so lazy she wouldnt even check the computer to see if there were any more info. why are vthey so lazy when that is there job! i feel sorry for the people who still have not got any, i just want my others now. its a joke. has any1 out there got theres on a day other than wednesday? xx

  • Hello Hungry Caterpillar,

Have you checked all the entitlement criteria? to make sure ou are in once of the correct groups to receive cwp.
Depending on your circumstances, there are some groups of people, where claims need to be issues clerically, rather than automatic as it should be,

    Hi Munchie,

I checked all of the criteria, and it would appear that we qualify with our personal circumstances, benefits etc. However, still having problems getting hold of anyone who can tell me if I will get a payment, and if so when. We received CWP last year without any delay or problem so am at a loss as to what is going on this year. If anyone can let me know of a helpline number that works I would be grateful.

  • The problem this year, seems to be, that many of the claims are having to be entered manually.
Where for example, there are claims for Income Support, Children under 5 are not always recorded against those claims, likewise if there are children with disabilities. This is due to the premiums being associated with Child Tax Credit, not IS.

There is no helpline number, surprise, surprise.
The only option is to phone your Benefit Delivery Centre, and ask them to investigate

And keep pushing them - nicely of course - until you get your answer. Ask for a supervisor, and insist they help - they'll be able to tell (even if they say they can't) whether all the necessary details are on their system. If the details are wrong, they'll tell you what you need to do next.
  • still waiting for my other 3 CWPs! im really angry, they have taken £45 off my money, for a fortnight! thats £20 a week! how can i live on that for two weeks, surly they cant take this much off, im going to ring them, its for previous crisis loans, the law says u need 64 a week to live on, so how can u live on 44 a week? its shocking!
  • Got a letter today saying i am getting 1 payment! :j

The law says you need £64 to live on, but you have taken out loans, and these have to be repaid.
Speak to them, and see of they can reduce the payments a little, but it will obviously take longer to clear the debt.
It's exactly why I'll not take a crisis loan, even though the dwp suggested it while waiting for my CWP's to arrive. It's one thing borrowing, it''s another thing having to pay it back. I know my limitations.

Well my central heating is working again (finally! Although it was nice to oogle the rather dishy heating engineer in the two days he was here) but no cold weather payments have hit my account yet, so it's back to watching and feeding the scary gas monster.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
