That's because you're phoning Glasgow. Us Weegies (a term of affection for Glaswegians :p ) are a helpful bunch. :rotfl:
lol, i was led to believe it was southampton:confused:
  • hi first time posting here. unfortuanately i have been very annoyed and let down by the benefits system especially when it comes to these cold weather payments. i was told to ring and chase up why i hadnt recieved them and on the phone they said they werent sure but would put a note through to processing. a week later still nothing so i rang yesterday and it now turns out i was wrongly advised as turns out im on the wrong type of JSA. i never knew but apparently i am on contributions based not income based and although both myself and hubby are now out of work and we have 2 children under 5 i am on that JSA and recieve only the £64 per week and am not entitled to recieve the cold weather payments therefore will struggle when the bills come in as i have obviously have had to use the heating more in these temps especially with a 2 year old and 9 month old. i think its ridiculous and dont see why on earth it should matter what type of jsa you are on especially if you have children under 5.
  • Another wasted call to IS just now.

this time i tricked them, and gave my national insurance number before i'd even mentioned i was phoning about cold weather payments.

but as soon as i mentioned cold weather, she went straight into read from a script mode. how can they sit there and try and say they have no idea who has been payed, who hasnt been payed, and when you will be payed.

saying i'll be paid by the end of January is just not good enough imo, esp when you havent even had one of the 4 payments.

what irritates me even more is my brother and sister in law who have 2 children aged 8 and 9 live about 7 doors up from me, both parents are jointly claiming JSA and have had 3/4 payments.

Might seem a bit mean, but surely those on IS and carers allowance, for caring for children with a disability, shouldnt be made to wait this long.

as it is, i'm running out of money, to keep loading onto the gas meter, which eats through it.
