BT residential (the people who supply you with your phone bill) have to operate just like any other llu operator (basically, they still have to pay BT Wholesale for the use of the line & exchange). However, unlike some of the others such as Primus and Tesco, BT employ a large number of people who deal with fault reports, cs & many other things that other operators can't be arsed about. I was with Talktalk, but had enough of the fact that thier c/s was only available between 8.00 am and 5.30 p, and was based in South Africa. Personnally I really hate overseas call centres and will always ask to speak to and english c/s or t/s person as I cannot understand foriegn accents.
As for Brown buying-back the national phone network, he could simply re-nationalise it and not pay a penny for it. Trouble is, the Tories would only sell-it off again as asset stripping is thier weapon of choice when it comes to reducing our tax bill (now THATS bad business practice for you, sell-off anything that could make a profit then be left with only taxes to prop-up the economy)Never Knowingly Understood.

I don't think we wish to go back to nationalised BT days when it took weeks and weeks to get a phone line, when calls costs a fortune. I never understand the rosy views on what it was like to have to use a nationalised monopoly service provider.0 -

In my broadband and phone package with Plusnet, the "inclusive" calls are only those of less than 30 MINUTES!- come on now, how many of us girlies do mates-chats for 30 minutes or less!! Also, it seems from their billing that free broadband is only between midnight and 7a.m. on the Value package although this is very difficult to confirm as it is hard to find on their website. Perhaps Ofcom ought to look into regulating the levels of clarity needed when informing customers of conditions and terms. Maybe Moneysavingexpert could give them a nudge?
30 mins at a time is for your 300 mins of free international calls and as they state just redial. 60 mins is the limit for the rest the same as BT and other providers.
Your value BB package is a 10GB usage allowance with the usage between the times you state free (BB @ £5.99/month must be one of the cheapest stand alone prices there is)0 -
Has anyone got out of their contract?! We only resigned up to them in December, and they do this now, I want out!!
Many other companies are offering much better deals now after this change. People keep saying they are wanting out, but no one has actually come back and told us that they have been able to leave..

The thing is are you at a material disadvantage ?
Are you on the E&W Bundle(12 month contract) Do you regularly make calls between 6pm and 7pm. If so read this recent thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2239549
I am not so sure other companies are offering better deals ,and i guess their follow BT sooner rather then later.
If you dont make loads of calls between 6pm and 7pm you could always use www.18185.co.uk just 5p for a geographical call.0 -
billsavings, I've just checked my "unbilled" usage, and there are already 2 calls on there that would be chargeable under the new evening time definition... does that make it a material disadvantage? In my eyes, Yes, because I'm having to pay for something that before I didn't.

Another drawback of this - people will now be ringing me during The Archers
. Also the very time I am in the kitchen getting dinner ready.

So much for their, " The price of calling keeps on falling"!
Shameful large increases in calling costs designed to blackmail customers into the equally costly (for those who make few calls) unlimited calls packages.
Everyone should vote with their feet and switch now.0
