Hi all
Mary, I'm not sure if it was the sugar that worked, or the shock that I gave him some on a spoon as normally I'm hiding the sugar bowl from him plus the whole situation was rather unusual (a bit indelicate to write about on here LOL)
Your meals sound really nice - so none of you like turkey?0 -
Angela - not that none of us like Turkey but with just three of us and the price of turkeys we opted for lamb............think OH wanted to try out this mediterranean rub stuff I got him. We;ve got a ham OH boiled so that'll come out today along with anything else kicking out that we fancy.
Been such a weird kind of christmas I don't think any of fancy much to be honest........not even our ladI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

How's everyone's day been? Better I hope.
I went bargain shopping and Birmingham was heaving - whoever said there's a recession on was obviously lying.
We went to Boots before opening time, 15 people in front of us, and within five minutes there were 300 people behind us.
Manic or what - people were grabbing 10 of everything. The person in front of us in the queue had four of those massive nylon bags full, AND four traditional baskets. However she was going to carry it, I'll never know. She easily must have spent £!,000.
I bought quite a few things for next year - prada perfume for sister, armani perfume for me. Eclipse set for other sis, a few mens gift sets etc. Some bits for DD2 and nieces - I did spend £100+, but it was all free as I used my Boots points. They were things that I can't see going to 75% off, so I was happy.
In selfridges people for grabbing the £400 designer handbags and were going to the tills with 8 or 9. What on earth?
I hope you're all ok, and Mum2one - please be careful, stick to things you know you CAN eat.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

elysia = you're a brave one facing the sales........don't think I could have even on a good day.
Determined to make this christmas as cheap as poss..........hand made to the last with the exception of a few ''unwanted'' bits I've already put by for birthdays/christmas.
Must make more of an effort to be ''creative'' and not just repeat what I've done before..........bit of brain power needed there I think (plus a little help from my friends:))I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Did you se the link that Anglea posted? A little christmas tree decorated with sweets - it was really sweet (if you excuse the pun).
There is a site called Favecrafts that has brilliant ideas on, and everyday they send you another set of things to make. It'll keep you busy for ages just looking at the fab things to make. It might give you a few ideas of things you haven't tried yet, and it's all very cheap to do.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

No sales for me today - drove past meadowhall to mums and the car parks were jammed full - no running around like a headless chicken for me buying tat after christmas!
Planning mums birthday present for Feb and birthday meal in 5 weeks
Happily mum loved her candle set from Prices Candles and it smells lovely so looks like I'll be buying the next set from QVC next year around Sept/Oct time for the Christmas Eve hamper which she also really liked with the reduced towel from debenhams and the reduced shower gel gift set from M+S. She also really likes the Denby gift set I got in the summer for Christmas and I love it too and the glass bowls from Mr S which I also like and I'm going to buy myself a set of 4 from there too.
Really pleased with how well the gifts went down this year and I'll have to give some thought to next years Christmas presents and try and make them as bargainous as this year and well thought out too
Had nice relaxing boxing day with a long walk with the dogs, watched Enchanted with was a pleasant family film then leftovers for tea - a lovely quality family day which has been a great couple of days.

Slippers are not to my taste and I currently have 4 pairs on rotation :rotfl: I had stuff left over as well, and normally I would wrap and just give them out as extras. but the new mse in me said NO, they will keep til next year
