I had a very happy christmas and keep waiting on something to go wrong. 2 yrs ago my life was turned upside down. My ex cheated on me, with his best friends wife. I tried to forgive him, but it was just a betrayal that I could not forgive. I said i was going to Tescos on the 28th of December to get DD calpol, and I never went back. It was a tough time, but i knew deep deep down it was the right thing to do. I was in womens aid refuge for 5 mth, I got a flat as I had lost my house my car and was made bankrupt, for a debt my ex never paid but was in my name. Im rambling. All I want to say, times are tough, but you do get through them and you look to the future and hope for some happiness.

There is always someone worse off than yourself. I hit my lowest point in my life, and I can now say 2yrs on, I have a nice flat (council) lovely neighbours, no debt, I own my own car, it may be old but its mine, and its been a GREAT car! My dd is amazing, and I look back on my year and im thankful, we had a great year.

I have met a lot of lovely ladies on here, and hope to spend the year ahead and make my next year even better :)

Thanks everyone. I do hope you all had a good day xx

Sorry I don't know what the heck to say, bar some men, but u've come through this a survivor, and your a wonderful lady, and bet dd is pround of punch of you.
    xx

I have been feeling all miserable today as my babies are with their dad having a great time. I then have to stop and think that I have a much better life than some people and I should be grateful for what I have got and am able to do. My dd asked me what poverty was the other day as we watched the nspcc advert and it made me respect what my family have.
To be able to go and buy something if I want it, to be able to eat as and when I want even if I am not hungry, just for the sake of it.

Sorry to ramble, Esmer, well done for making a better life for you and your child, thats the best thing you can give her. People always say to me the best thing you can give you child is love and happiness. Sometimes their is too much materialistic things in this world and some children and bringing up their kids that way. I try and make my kids respect what they have and be grateful (doesnt always happen mind you!)

Hope you had a day, I guess its hard when they go, Miss hoodies dad has had nothing to do with her till now, when he wants to be father of the year. I know they've spent today with your ex, but a penny to a pound, they'd be missing you like mad. Your kids sound one in a million, and ur a wonderful lady, but take care xx

    Hi all

Elysia, Thanks for asking, my 2 meals went great although there's been a Christmas crisis this week with one of the children.

I didn't overeat so none of that awful uncomfortable feeling in fact I was super energised today and after doing all the clearing up spent about 2 hours excercising - very weird. In previous years I can hardly move by the evening as I feel that tired.

mum2one, did you say you had another allergic attack today?

Another mild one luckly, think it was the christmas pud - apparently my face went round and red like a oompa (charlie and choc factory), so it was pop the allergy tabs and epi pen at the ready. Touch wood the tabs did the trick. I'd taken my last day of steriods this morning, touch wood everything ok. Another batch of ingredients for the specalist.......

Go on 30th to start allergy testing, so hopefully can get to the route of it xx

    Morning all,

Our Christmas day wasnt all that, OH was at work so just me and youngest daughter. She asked us for money this year and said could we not buy her little presents just give her the money but we got her some little presents as well. She isnt having the money until tomorrow as we wanted a special day with all of us together which she agreed on. She had her treasure hunt in the morning which she quite enjoyed but then was a bit of a misery the rest of the day, wouldnt move off the settee for love nor money to give me a hand with the dinner etc.

We had a nice dinner in the evening when OH got home from work but after dinner she sulked again as nothing on tv worth wathcing together. So OH said we could open our presents from his Mum and his brother. Daughter got a makeup set exactly the same as she got last year, and she cant use any of the make up in it as the lip gloss set off a reaction, she doesnt wear eye shadows and has no nice nails to paint, so that got her more into a sulk, so I ended up giving her a tenner for it and will put it away for Grandaughter or Eldest daugther for one of their birthdays.

OH gave me an envelope from his Mum said to both of us on it and he thought all along it was going to be a voucher so we were trying to guess whether it was Argos or what ever, opened it up and it was 4 £1 scratchcards lol, so we had two each and didnt win a bean. So bit disappointing really.

Hoping today goes a bit better, although already got bit of a spanner in the works. Son was supposed to be picking us up at 10.30 to take us to my Dad's for the day as OH is working again. Now he tells me hes not picking us up until 12.30 and we have to pop to his house first so wont get to my Dad's until after 2. Said we can stay later into the evening which will be nice but I can imagine OH texting me when he gets in from work asking how long I am going to be. I cooked him an extra dinner yesterday so he wont go without a meal, he just doesnt like being home on his own.

Tomorrow we are having all our other presents, just hoping daughter doesnt get the sulks again as she hasnt got much in the way of presents really, just dressing gown, slippers, that kind of thing and a couple of dvds but she will get her money and then Tuesday we taking her out for the day to spend it.

Well, seems like a lot of us having some kind of rant lol, sure made me feel a bit better about it getting it off my chest.

Hope the rest of your weekends are great, Rufus xx

Like mum2one said the medial spend so long painting a picture of the 'perfect' Christmas with the 'perfect' lighting, food, gifts and conversations and real life is not always like that! Some Christmas' are perfect in their own way and others are just about ok, then others are not and can't wait for it to be over.

I took the view that I wouldn't wind myself up over little things that didn't go to plan and to enjoy the day with my little family who are left. So many bereavements have happened over the last 10yrs that Christmas is now completely different for me and its taken me a long time to get used to how different it is. Now I try and view it as spending some quality time with my family.

When I was listening to Paul O grady yesterday morning while making dinner, he made me laugh with how he viewed Christmas which was more like real life and how he kept saying, don't worry its only a roast dinner which I kept saying to myself.

What I'm trying to say is, its only another day, nothing more and its gone now so let the stress out and I hope everyone feels better today even if its a little bit.

Oh dear.............I must have been so full of my own problems I forgot other people go through s**t as well. Sorry for bleating on about my ''life hiccups'' for want of a better word. There's always someone worse off.
Somewhere I've a list of things like ''Blessings'' -I must print it out and frame it then when things feel c**p it'll remind me that they're not really.

esmer -you've done so well..............you're right to be proud of yourself
mum2one.....hope your allergy thing gets sorted s..a.p.

hugs (((((((:o))))))))) to anyone who needs them that I've forgot to mention

Anyway.........brighter note............our lad just came back from town with a set of 4 mugs he'd bought us as a christmas present. I'd told him from the start not to worry and the best present he could give us was to help us with any jobs that needed doing..... Needless to say I burst into tears -but
tears of joy that he actually thought of us like that when he needn't have done.:)

Bless you all and may all your hiccups (we're all bound to have some' ) be little ones:)

    Hi all

Mary, I think some people find it therapeutic to write or talk about their hiccups :) in life and others might prefer not to. So don't worry if it helps you to be writing about them.

That was a lovely surprise from your lad.

On that subject, ds2 had a very bad episode of proper hiccups and I tried an old wives remedy - a spoonful of sugar - they stopped right away!

mum2one, that's strange about getting such strong allergic reaction the time you were in hospital and just now. That must have been a pain on Christmas Day. Mind you in your household.............:)

fedup - that was a good comment by Paul O. It does seem that all year there is a massive build up over one meal.

Angela - thanks..........and thanks for the hiccups tip...........never heard that one before.
Missed Paul O Grady ..........so mad with myself as we normally listen to him. He puts things into perspective I think and he's right.........lot of carry on over a dinner...........lol
We had roast lamb that OH had rubbed with this mediterannean stuff I'd got off the freebie board.......normal sort of veg we'd have on a Sunday and it was lovely. Our lad had dish of ice cream and a few mince pies and was quite happy.
So, doesn't have to be a lot of fuss and frills does it.
Today is just ham, sausage rolls, pork pies, cheese board (foster daughte got us thank goodness as we forgot everything except normal cheddar!)
Tin of quality street we haven't opened yet..........can see that lasting till Easter..............lol:rotfl:
