  • I hope your heating has been fixed now Esmer.

I didn't make the fudge last night, I focused on the flavoured vodkas instead. I decided to filter them again as they looked a little 'bitty'. They look much better now but filtering them takes AGES! I should be able to make the fudge tonight, I'm going to try a few different recipes. I bought a few of those big kilner jars from the £1 shop (so impressed with those!) and I'm going to fill one with fudge for my Dad.

I'm STILL waiting for a present to arrive from Amazon. It says it was shipped on the 7th December so I've got my fingers crossed that it will arrive on time.

Today we're off to DH's Dad to do the first present drop off, it always feels like Christmas is REALLY close once we start exchanging the gifts :D

    Hi all

Brilliant news Esmer. When I read about your predicament it suddenly reminded me of a very strange time long ago when I used to stay at a friends home, it was a bedsit in a council block. And she had a large sofa bed and no room for anything else, So when I stayed overnight had to share it with her. One morning before 7 am, there was a banging on the door. Friend went to open it and was talking to someone, I was still in bed in my nightie. Suddenly in walk a load of workmen and started working on the radiator inches from the bed. I daren't move and pretended to be asleep. Surreal experience!

    Hello all :j

esmer - been thinking of you. So glad you're all sorted now and basking in the heat............lol You can stop all that baking now.............lol:rotfl:

Right.........my day..........started off with lack of delivery by the dreaded DHL people !!! Our lad was up at 7am waiting...........no-one came, he went to get the milk in at 8am and there was a delivery card outside !! I was so mad !! Rang them again and again.........'all our lines/operators are busy' (I bet they are !) Eventually got through to a young lady (not the same one as yesterday) - she really didn't seem that interested despite my reeling off all that had happened. Next delivery is tomorrow morning -she can't guarantee a time (thinking this bloke must be working all through the night just slinging cards at or through letterboxes !) So about to send another e mail complaining to DHL and demanding something be sorted out.............will also e mail Sports Direct and complain to them about the parcel delivery(so called) service they use.
Don't suppose it'll make ha'peth of difference but I'll feel better that I've done it.

Plus side.......neighbours daughters started card making and I gave her a few bits a while back......she's made me a lovely card:T So, thought I'd better get creative for her -normally just make card for whole family but now I've done one for her, her sister and Mum. So that gave me something 'positive' to do.
OH's mate drove him to one of the shops for a few bits then a pint so at least he got out the house for a bit.

My friend sent her presents to me over with her ex OH and he took mine to her so thats that sorted.
Oh slept all night which was a blessing......meant I got a nights sleep as well.

Hope you're all ok and keeping warm:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Angela - you made me laugh pretending to be asleep.

Esmer - glad your heating back on, just a thought if we knew where you lived perhaps on of us could have helped you....

Mary - my mate had the same problem, and when i went to get her today i noticed a note on her door. Saying " to delivery man please knock door hard I `m disabled and cant get to door quickly and want to give you a tip" I was a bit confused because she been moaning about them. I asked her did she get her parcel and she said yes he rang the bell and waited. Great I thought...what was the tip. ??? She told him to knock harder next time so I can see her future deliveries in the bin.

Bad news today......my inflatable 6ft christmas giraffe wont be here until after christmas....it stuck in the airport, its been shipped from Miami and arrived but is now stuck :(

susan - lol..............this time I've e mailed (and got a reply !!!!) asking them to knock, wait till I get to the door or go to neighbours house.............he'll have to go to back door and she's always near the kitchen, If that doesn't work I don't know what else to do.

Just been trying to compare insurance -house and contents insurance due January and ours seems an awful lot..............well all these quotes came up...........talk about ''confused,com''- I was  Think best bet is to phone insurance folk tomorrow and see what I can cut out and still be well covered.
Friend just told me her boiler packed up last week ! What makes boilers do that ? I always worry about ours but its only 3 yrs old so should be ok.......(touching wood and fingers crossed !)
