  • Hugs scattymam - that is terrible news and I feel for you all

Potatoes and carrots will last no problem for a week. I've bought mine, potatoes in a sack which I'm aiming to last a month and carrots should last over a week, usually they last for ages in the fridge however I got some chantenay ones for christmas and I'll stick these in the fridge and they should be ok for a week.

I only need to get some juice and pop in now and double check I've got everything for the prawn cocktail ingredients - in fact time to search out a recipe now

Esmer - I loved that book - it was much better than another book by the same author. Chocolate Wishes it was called, and it was boring. I'm reading 'The Christmas Cookie Club' now that I've finished 'The puppy who came for Christmas'. Can you see a theme here? LOL

I read the other one first, found it ok, but I had just read a really gripping Crime thriller so I needed something that took up NO brain cells to read.

Im really enjoying this one, so much so I tried to finish it last night, and never went to sleep til midnight, so not much of an early night :rotfl:

  • When I get some energy back from this horrible cold I will finally make the stuffing and cranberry sauce to freeze for next week.

Might make a start after a coffee and see if my ears unbung alongside my nose and chest

Had to go to Mr S for some more tissues as I've run out and looked for some more chesty cough medicine. Bought Mr S expectorant at £1.60 compared to Beneylin Mucus cough medicine for £5.99 - same ingredients!

So so sorry to hear your news Scatty. Although it's painful, you have to remember, at least BIL got the chance of a bone marrow as many don't sadly. I'm on the register, and was asked to donate in October but couldn't (BMI too high). Thinking of you and your family and sending you virtual hugs.

Legendmum - you can just cut the legs off and throw them away if you're determined you don't want them, but I would just cook them anyway, strip off the meat and add it to curry or something with a strong flavour. Turkey is cooked more or less the same as a chicken. I put smoked streaky bacon on the breast to keep it moist and it adds a bit of flavour. Don't rinse the turkey when you take the giblets out (like my mum used to do) the heat of the oven will kill any nasties. hth

Fedup - I liked that one too, but it was the 3D butterfly on this one that swung it. ;) My S&G is still being processed yet other people who placed their orders after me, have dispatch emails. Grrr I want mine.

    Anglea - I hope you're ok.

Mary - are you sure OH isn't overdoing it? I'd hate to think that he had another fall while shopping, he might be back in hospital before you know it.

Foxy - I hope your Dad is well and your mum isn't suffering too much.

Mum2one - I hope everyone is ok with you.

'Try' and have a lovely weekend everyone.

legendmum - easy mistake to make, you cook it smae as crown, but i turn mine upside down so its more moist. Take the giblets out cook seperate, dog like s them ......and somebody should open hotel put men in (sorry mcjordi)

scattymum - what terrible news and as regards kids you be surprised how resilient they are and they will cheer you all up. As regards funerals b4 christmas, my mum past away at xmas, my granddad did too and my dad passed away on tins 1st birthday.....the kids were fine , upset naturally.

    Hello all :j
After much nagging OH still insisted he could manage going round our little co-op (his bit of independance I think) then pop in the pub and his mate would bring him home. He managed it but I bet he'll know it later on. He gets so bored and frustrated sitting about-not a hobbies type person either -keep threatening to get him a jigsaw............lol Least we got home delivery and anything else we need our lad can nip out and get.
While he was out I got the decorations out -took me an age to sort them out -forgot what went where............still done now.........pine dresser looks a treat. As for the tree..........well it's done.......not as good as some I've seen but I got fed up with the lights tangling everywhere. Next year I'm getting one of those you just plug in and it lights up -no fuss..................lol

This morning.....young couple knocked on the door asking about pine doors being stripped..........chap OH does odd bits of work for does it so I gave her his phone number, got chatting and turns out she's a cleaner :T So, booked her for Thursday..............................our lads running the hoover round tomorrow and mopping the floor but I know it'll be a bit half-hearted so its worth her coming to do a better job. I was so thrilled.........been looking in the adverts for someone since young girl who did it got a full time job.

scattymam -so sorry to hear your sad news............big hugs ((((((((:o)))))))) to you and your family.

elysia...........thanks for that link...........looks like a good idea.........trying to think know what cans we have with pop up lids............used to be the cat food but they went off it.

No snow :T Looked a bit white this morning but was more like a heavy frost. Hoping this lot leaves us alone........had enough of the last lot

    Take care all:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

mmmm Thanks Esmer - that looks yum. Guess what I'm going to be using my new cooking thermometer on? ;) Goes off to add almonds to shopping list. :)

Susan - I just looked back, and it was 3.25 I placed the order ;) I wish I HAD paid £3.25. :rotfl:

Fedup - well done - Just take your time. Not much left now to do.

Mary - I think we've had all your snow. We've had more than double today than what we had the other week. OH not impressed as it took him an extra two hours to deliver his post - due to the weather, not because of the extra mail.
