Fedup - ouch with the excema and sore throat/virus. Get all your things today as I feel a money making challenge coming along very soon. ;)

And what is this please - the money making challenge

Next year I am concentrating on paying off CC debts at long last and now can't spend my usual amounts on QVC beauty should have a bit more to spend on the repayments. Then keep to how I have bought presents for the last couple of years

Think I'd better have a look on the board then for this thread!

Edit - I'm going downhill fast - proper cold/cough roughness - not sure if I'll be at work tomorrow. Will see how I feel in the morning if I can knock myself out and not wake up coughing all night

Mary! I can't beleive your husband (and yourself) have been treated so shabbily. If he hasn't got a safe place to sleep or ability to got to the toilet then the hospital have certainly failed in their duty of care. (I am a student nurse and this year just gone care plans were drilled into us - how to look after a patient holistically etc - we had to considered EVERYTHING for our patients from being safe and able to wash and dress to expressing sexuality and if they wanted be able to have a fulfilling sex life!)

I agree with the other posters - get a full written complaint into PALS demanding answers - if Hubby was on a 2 day ward (never heard of one) then why couldn't he be moved to a more appropriate one?? Also I would suggest that you see your GP and ask for a Community OTs visit as a matter of urgency. They are the guys who can get you all the aids you need. I know you say your Hubby doesn't want to cause any fuss but he has to think of you too - is putting up and shutting up going have a detrimental affect on his and YOUR life ?????:o

Fedup - you need to look at the Thrifty Gifty Money Making thread for the challenge. Jamtart set it up about four years ago - I joined it in January and have earned enough money to pay for all my Christmas presents and gifts through the year with the money made doing surveys/ebay/reviews etc. I know it will be difficult for you with doing your Uni work and working full time too, but every penny extra can go into paying for presents, freeing up the money you would have spent by buying them for paying off what you owe iyswim.

Legendmum - my marshmallows went a bit crusty too so I took them out and put them on our hot choc. I didn't make my mince pies either in the end. DD saw the Million pound drop was on TV so we watched that instead. I have to stay in tomorrow as neice is ill (she had to go hospital today - anaemic and athsma, and constipation poor thing) sorry for TMI she's only 5. So i'll make them tomorrow. :)

Bah humbug - started with a terrible chesty painful cough yesterday, dog groomer has flu so my dog will be looking like chewbacca over christmas. Took the day off specially for this appt and only just found out it was cancelled. I have 164 patches on my back for eczema testing which isn't too comfortable either

Can't get into the Christmas spirit. Anyway with a day off work tomorrow I'm aiming to write my cards, put my tree up, do as much food shopping as possible then I'll feel a bit better and more organised

Just need to fit in 1 hospital appt for the patches

Sorry to hear all the other news of ill health and injuries - what a time of year eh?

Hope you don't mind me asking the patches for eczema, is that to see what brings you out, how do they do it, sorry to sound so thick, just since I had the anaphlietic shock, I've got to go for the allergy testing - guessing it may be the same principle as yours, just wondered how they did it xx

    Hello all :j
Thankyou so much for your kind thoughts:)
OH came home yesterday.............oh what a farce !
After talking to nurses and having discussions about mobility aids in the morning and they wouldn't send him home until they knew how mobile he was and what he'd need.............I get phone call at 5pm...........could I arrange to collect him !
I'd been told they would arrange transport and not to worry about that.
Mobility ? He wasn't allowed out of bed till 4.30pm, walked up the ward with the aid of dads walking stick and that seemed to be ok in their books.
No commode, OH had told them he'd sleep on bed settee which is far too low but then I knew he'd say anything to get home.No mention of toilet seat and really he could do with one of those you put on to make it higher. No mention of how high any bed might be. But they were supposed to discuss this with me before discharging him.
No mention of anyone coming to the house to see if he might need anything else. They send him home with enough painkillers for 3 days and told him he was to take them regularly and get some more to get him through Christmas and New Year. They also gave him four of those cardboard things to pee in !!
He doesn't really need them and if he did he'd have to pay to get some more !
He's rung the surgery to order more painkillers and asked them to put them all on one prescription then it'll only cost £7.............if they don't he's getting his mate to drive him down there and demand to see GP.
No paperwork sent home with him so I only know he fractured his hip and chipped a bit off his pelvis which they say is 'floating around' but there's nothing they can do about it !
Seemed I got told different tale each time I rang.
Monday I was told he wouldn't need surgery but he'd been 'nil by mouth' till 1am -by then he asked for a something to eat and they gave him a cheese sandwich realising that they weren't going to operate.
Honest, I'm so mad ! I'd be on the phone creating by now but he hates fuss and he's shuffling about the house so always in earshot but am going to complain to the hospital. I really think it's disgusting and top and bottom is, the ward he was in was a two day only ward so out he had to go.

Still, least he's home...................now he'll turn into a 'grumpy old man' while I attempt to turn into Delia in the kitchen......................lol:rotfl:
My son girlfriend and little grandson aren't coming up now which is just as well..............don't think we'd cope with that.
So, almost back to normal now.
Crikey didn't realise this post was so long............if you've read it all...............thankyou:)

Oh my god, sorry but that is absolutey unbelieve service, the least they should have organised -- which would have been the occupational therapist - would be toilet frame, not being cheeky, but to support him getting on and up, a toilet raiser seat, They are a god send, make sure he had proper walking aids be it sticks, crutches, even a frame if need be, and a comode.

I would def put a complaint in with the hospital, as Miss Hoodie would say ring the papers... (only joking),

Going back to the Red Cross - may be worth ringing the shop and see if they can give you the number of the section that loans out equipment.

I know when mine was recommend, I was given toilet frame, (but as our loo seperate from bathroom - the room was too narrow), a toilet seat raiser, (did take some getting use to - after a couple of days went), chair raisers (are a god send), and bed raisers - thou I had a disaster - one night was about to climb into bed (at that time had a metal bed - lower to the ground), my back went into spasms, I collasped on the bed and the frame gave away.... it turned out that metal beds shouldn't been raised as they don't have the stability of a divan), had a frame to help me out of bed. Mine was all recommended by the heath visitor, we were told could wait, had no date for delievery, so we drove and got them from a depot.

With mum her route was from her occupational therapist - she went for an assesment this building was rigged out as rooms, she had the toilet seat raiser, chair raiser, perching stool for if shes in the kitchen, stool for the bath, (but she cant get a bath, just we have to climb in to get a shower),commode for the bedroom. She had hers all delieveres. It depends on what route you go down.

I know when my uncle had a knee replacement - the hopsital physio sent him home with all the equipement.

I would def ring the GP 2mor and demand a home visit, there is no way hubby be able to get in and out of a car, and also the weather due to change.

Just wish i was nearer and i'd kick off for you xx

    Thank you, M

    Hi

Eylsia2003 will be doing the money making side, and I'll be doing the money spending neutral site.

Jump in and out any time your get a warm welcome on both threads, I pm'd elysia the other day - about this thread and its starting date for 2011, without sounding mad it will be 25th December, - as all the work we've done all yr is for the Christmas Day.
Before it swops over there be links on both threads with the new thread link on there.

If you go under the thread box on the thread you can subcribe, and choose whether to have instant emails, end of day, end of week or none, it does the hard work for us......

Got to say a big thank you to everyone as eithout all the lovely ladies and Mcjordi, the thread wouldn't be successful.

Big thank you to one and all xx

Mary, glad your OH is home, but sorry at how you were both treated. You definately need to complain as there is so little communication within the NHS at times no one knows whats going on. PALS are great and will help you on the way to sorting things out. Definately get in touch with them, they will also help you with any other things you need to get sorted or at least point you in the right direction.

    Of course I can

On Monday I had a chat with the Dr about my symptoms, then he decided on what to test for, then the nurse stuck on 16 patches on containing 10 tests plus another 4 on my back, marked with marker pen.

Then you have to keep your back dry, so no baths or showers and avoid sport etc

Go back for a review and to see if have had any reactions on Wed then a final review on Friday to see if have any further reactions and to discuss outcomes

Its been a very thorough test so far and good to find out what may be causing this at long last

Mary - sorry you are having a rough time of it, wish we lived a bit nearer so we could all come round and help you out.

My son is coming today to take me out to have a look at some fabric shops. Dont know if I will buy any but nice to have a look round. I dont see him that often what with his work so will make a change.

Youngest daughter had her brace taken off, lovely straight teeth now. Has to go back this afternoon for her retainer but OH is taking her.

We finished our Christmas shopping yesterday, got the Grandsons some nice clothes from Primark, Sports Direct and Asda. Found a nice skirt for youngest daughter in Primark going for £1 which is right up her street, and got her a nice dressing gown to go with the pyjamas I made.

When we got home I wrapped up everything else that hadn't been wrapped up. Had two bottles of wine given to us, one by OH's Dad at the weekend and one from bloke at his work so giving them to son and daughter.

Got to run new electric meter going in, Rufus xx
